Aimed principally at amateurs, it nevertheless contains a wealth of inspiration for the professional designer, including ways to adapt the 'borrowed' landscape to make the most of views, and how to exploit perspective. There's plenty of excellent photography to show to clients in order for them to get a feel for their preferred style. The text will even reaffirm their decision to call you in, as the author helpfully mentions how useful it can be to employ a designer in a challenging space. (Garden Design Journal )

About the Author
Andi Clevely has spent 35 years as a working gardener. After taking a degree in English at Oxford he began his gardening career on the Crown Estate at Windsor Great Park. Since then he has been employed as head gardener in private service (initially for J.B. Priestley and Jacquetta Hawkes). He is currently responsible for managing a country estate and garden near Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire. He is the author of the many books and in 2003 he won the Garden Writers' Guild Award for Practical Journalist of the Year.

Award-winning photographer Steven Wooster specializes in the photography of gardens and plants. He lives in London.
