"This is San Francisco" is not a guide book - it's a classic factual kid's book (first published 1962 - so no TransAmerica Pyramid).
It has a feel and layout similar to Babar Comes to America (Babar (Harry N. Abrams)). As such it is as much a work of art as anything else. Indeed you could frame the pages and hang them on your wall.
If you've ever been to San Fran, or just watched Bullitt (2 Disc Special Edition) [DVD] [1968], you'll feel you've visited every one of the locations on the book's 60 pages. From the spaced-out vibes of the Presidio, to the ducks hanging in a Chinatown shop window, to Fisherman's Wharf - you can practically smell the place.
Captures the vibe - and this one is about the vibes.
