Welcome return of a classic
As a Hong Kong resident for the past thirteen years I was delighted to see this beautiful book re-released. Hong Kong has changed greatly since it was first published and yet there are so many wonderful features of Hong Kong life depicted beautifully in the book which still exist. There is an update at the back of the book to show how Hong Kong has changed but in essence it is a celebration of this wonderful, vibrant territory and a great meditation on the fusion of old and new; east and west.

Update needed!
Despite the title, this is really no longer Hong Kong. Though there is nothing on the Amazon site to indicate it, the book is a re-issue of a 1965 text. Perhaps nowhere in the world has changed as much since 1965 as Hong Kong, so the title is utterly misleading. Caveat emptor!!

lovely reissue of a 1965 book (with amendments
This book is a delight. the illustrations are lovely. The Hong Kong is portrays is that of 1965 I guess and so it is different from the HOng Kong of today...but...places are recognisable..and it does convey very well the wonderful mix that is Hong Kong. All places change and geography books are always out of date...but this is not a geography book - it's a book telling a story of a place..and so...though some things are different - like the airport and skyscrapers etc that just adds to the interest. But then...I grew up in the 1960's. Maybe that has something to do with why I like it!
