Product Description

In Ratchet & Clank 2: Locked And Loaded, the two unlikely pals team up again for an all-new sci-fi adventure combining action-platform, exploration, adventure, puzzle-solving, strategy, role-playing and racing into one compelling experience resulting in plenty of explosions and devastation.

Mr Smiles, the head of Megacorp, has come up with a fantastic new product! It's a super cute creature called the "Protopet" which he wants to sell to every house in the galaxy. When the prototype is stolen, Mr Smiles hires in Ratchet and Clank to help him get it back. Slowly they begin to realise that maybe the thief isn't necessarily in the wrong, and maybe the Protopet isn't quite as sweet and innocent as it seems... It's all going to go horribly wrong and only Ratchet and Clank can put it right and find out who's really behind all the mayhem.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
The first Ratchet & Clank game was the best action platformer the PS2 had had, and now the dynamic duo are back in Ratchet & Clank 2: Locked and Loaded (hastily resubtitled for the UK after the developers realised that the original Going Commando might imply an entirely different kind of game experience).

After becoming rather bored with their lot in the aftermath of their victory in the last game, the now not-so reluctant heroes are hired as bounty hunters to track down the stolen Protopet, which looks like the world's cutest pet but is actually something more sinister. Well, not really sinister, because it's still cute as a button, but definitely dangerous.

Although the graphics and controls have had an overhaul for this sequel, the developers have wisely realised that the thing everyone enjoyed most from the first game is the huge number of weapons you get to use. There are 20 new ones to play with now, but interestingly nearly all of them can be upgraded and customised for different features and more power. Not only that but the new role-playing element even extends to Ratchet himself--he can improve his own abilities as he goes.

As well as all that the game has got even more variety than before, with tons of mini-games including hoverbike races and spaceship dogfights. There are also a lot more levels in which you get to control Clank in his gigantic killer-robot mode. It might not be all that original but it's fun and good looking and has a surprisingly witty script. All in all, it's top stuff. --David Jenkins

WOW WOW and WOW again5
I brought Ratchet and Clank 2 after reading alot of great comments about it over many websites and there was not a bad review among them. But what I was not prepared for was how overwhelmingly amazing the game is. The graphics are the slickest I have evr seen on the PS2, the controls are so easy to get to grips with, and you can customise so many aspects about the two hero's you could take too gamers versions and they would be differant.

Most importantly about this game though is the guns. There are loads of them. Loads and loads of them. Most of them upgradable. For instance take the Lancer. The first gun you get in the game. It isnt too bad to start, but once you've killed enough stuff with it it becomes upgraded, so its even more pwoerful. The sheer inventiveness of the guns is great. You have a weapon that fires mini gun turrets, you have one that fires disks that richochet off enemies and keep hurting them. Once this babiy is upgraded a disk hits the enemythen it splits into too. Even more destruction. ACE!

The inventiveness goes on. One of the most amazing things in the game is when you are on a world that you can actually walk right the way around. This just blew me away. The way the scenery rolled into view as I walked. Just amazing!

One of the great things about the game is the difficulty level. As the game progresses you get better and better guns, but the enemies get harder and harder. So A one shot kill weapon in the earlier levels will not be quite so effective once you reach the mid point.

Too sum up, this game is well, i don't have to say. Just buy it. Rent it too test if you don't believe me. Then you definately will have the urge to buy it. The best game I have on the PS2, bar none!!

Insomniac Does It Again5
Ratchet and Clank was very good, Locked and Loaded is amazing. This is probably the best action game I have ever played. Major improvements have been made - weapons have been improved and graphics are like walking through the Ratchet and Clank galaxies. Enemies are more difficult to finish - they won't just drop dead on the first shot. Mini games are again included but this time more detailed - as well as there being extras once you have beaten the first one. Instead of just hoverboarding there is now arena fights, battles in Ratchet's ship, and Desert Riders hoverbiking. The cut scenes are also very good - and often quite funny. There is many objectives to one level, which improves the lifespan and makes you want to play it again with the unlocks that come with finishing the game. Also, you always want to have time to explore the levels - not just do the objectives.

Truly brilliant game - 5 stars - 10/10 - 100%.

Insomniac are victorious again.5
The PS2's greatest platforming duo are back- and in a brilliant new game. Locked and loaded ( renamed from Going commando), is the new game that Ratchet and CLank star in, and just like the first game, Insomniac have made a entertaining and overall excellent game that is probably the best platformer on the PS2, along with JAk 2:renegade.

BAsically, the core gameplay mechanics have not changedfrom the previous game. However, as the formula was brilliant, i think that many people will agree that Insomniac were wise not to change this.

The mephasis is till on platform style shooting, with over 20 guns on offer, most of which can be upgraded, bringing vthe total up to around 40 weapons. The weapons are quite innovative e.g. The sheepinator, which turns enemy into sheep, or the spiderbot, which releases a small controllable spider, which blows up when near enemies.ALso, the RYNO 2 is available- this is the succesor to the RYNO, the strongest weapoin in the first game. May hardcore gamers who bought the very expensive RYNO, such as myself, will be very pleased with this(it does cost 1 million bolts though!).

There are also some new additions, which are cleverly titled MAxi games (mini games). These include gladitorial fights, space shootouts, wipeout fusion style racing, and, flying.

Also, there are many new gadgets, such as the Charge boots, which allow you to hover over ground and move at a rapid speed across terrain.

I do not wish the story for to-be buyers of the game, but I will reveal that Ratchet and Clank are assigned to search for a stolen experiment for a new super company like Gadgetron, known as Megacorp and lead by the weirdly named Abercombie Fizzwidget.

Overall this is a brilliant games, and deserves a 100% rating.

P.s. the only minor problem is that the camera sometimes gets annyoing when you fight large amounts of baddies, but with the quick press of a button the camera can be fixed to its normal and favourable position.

PPS A new weapon, known as the Zodiac, is acquriable in the game, as it is more powerful then the RYNO and the RYNO 2! BUT! It costs 1.5 million bolts! Only dedicated gamers will be able to purchase it.
