Synopsis
TEENAGE KICKS is a witty sitcom from the pen of Ade Edmonson (BOTTOM) who also stars as Vernon, a down-on-his-luck dad. When Vernon's wife takes everything in their divorce, he's left homeless and broke. Left with no alternative he moves in with his grown-up children Milly and Max, who share a flat in Kilburn. The adjustment process is not an easy one, and--in a sharp twist on family dynamics--soon Milly and Max are desperate to get their unruly father to leave home!
Customer Reviews
Teenage kicks? More like middle-aged comedy.
It could have been an hilarious series, but sadly it wasn't. The writing is poor - each joke (to use the term so loosely it hardly applies) can be seen coming long before the punchline is delivered, the problem being that it's either signposted far too obviously or spelled out tediously. Like most British comedies these days - or, more precisely, BBC and ITV comedies: Channel Four seem to do them so much better - we the audience are not given the chance to work out why something is humorous (see also "My Family" and the current failure of fun whose title escapes me but which stars Nicholas Lyndhurst and Celia Imrie) - the actors hamfistedly explain to us by way of throwaway and completely unnecessary lines.
Adrian Edmonson doesn't even look like he's trying to portray a believable character which, given that he wrote the such a predictable script, would be an impossible task anyway - it must have been the easiest fee earned for an acting / writing job ever.
Save your money unless you want to weep tears of disappointment.
When's series 2?
I found Teenage kicks to be a refreshingly funny sitcom. The jokes and humour are definitely reminiscent of the type of shows Adrian has written in years past.
It was a very enjoyable 8 episode disk.
Will there be a 2nd series? I hope so. Very cool music in it too!
Great Comedy
This comedy was hilarious. Even know I admit Ade Edmonson didn't have enough energy has he did in Bottom or Young Ones, but the things he says are stuff that makes you want to pee your pants. (Laughing)
This ITV Comedy was great, it has great jokes, funny people and normally its the kids that steal the show.
Lets hope there will be a series 2.
