Product Description

The Handbook for Governors aims to ensure that all Governors can support the school to their full potential not by working harder, or longer, but by having more understanding of their role and tasks. It is an invaluable aid to Governors, and to the leadership of the school, when setting the agenda for Governor training, and when welcoming new Governors into their role. It gives many strategies for development, and also areas for reflection and consideration. The whole book is reproduced on the accompanying CD ROM, enabling schools to personalise the handbook for their own use. Whole sections, pages and tables will enable you to ensure that development matches the priorities for the school, and that the Governors are able to fulfil their role with understanding and knowledge. The book covers all aspects of the work of the Governing Body, including support, monitoring, and preparation for inspection.

About the Author
LIZ GREENSIDES (M.Ed) brings to her consultancy the rich experience of being a headteacher in two very different schools firstly in a small rural church school and then in a large inner city socially deprived CE primary. In September 2001 her work was highly praised by Ofsted which cited the rapid school improvement which was a remarkable achievement . In addition to this, she has been involved in many inspections as a Team Inspector and Registered Inspector, and now works as a Lead Inspector in the New Inspection. She works for the National College as a facilitator for New Visions, and is in the pool of NPQH trainers and assessors. She was involved as an external adviser to governing bodies for many years, and also worked as an assessor for advanced skills teachers. Liz uses experience from her several different roles to bring an up to date approach to school improvement and development. Working for Focus, she has enjoyed working with many schools in training and consultancy, and puts development above all other aspects of her work. Liz is the author of several books for Focus Education.
