A beautiful, informative and inspiring text - I want this one!
I have borrowed this text from my University library. I am primary trainee who hasn't studied Geography since the age of 14, so I needed a brush-up. The book is Published by the Geographical Association, so for me it immediately had credibility. Whilst I am not yet a teacher, it seems to me that this book could be a complete resource for me in planning and delivering Geography to any year group in Key Stage 1 and 2. The manual outlines the place of Geography in the curriculum in a thoroughly convincing and inspiring way. It offers comment on a huge range of areas such as Assessment, Displays, Citizenship, Creativity, Mapwork, Misconceptions, Questions, SEN, as well as specific guidance and ideas on particular areas of geography.

The layout is beautiful, with photographs of pupils at work, samples of work, displays and ideas. The Contents page is thorough. There is a very useful 'Key ideas for navigation' section which includes references for Assessment etc. The Index is detailed. There is also a useful list of resources including websites.

I am going to buy this as my text to support my Geography teaching and I don't think I'll be needing another text for a while as this offers such a good resource.
