Pure Genius
I highly recommend this book to any A level candidate on any exam board, it teaches you everything needed for A level plus more. The book contains images and detail you will not find anywhere outside University text books and is far better than any other A level text book i have read or looked at.
Excellent AS/A2 Resource
Like the other books within its series (Advanced Physics & Advanced Biology), this text contains a wealth of information which far extends beyond the A-level syllabus. The syllabus for which I am studying is Edexcel Advanced Nuffield Chemistry; that said, many students whom study this course can sympathize with the lack of resources available to support this syllabus. The information in the "Nuffield Advanced Chemistry Students' Book" is rather brief, lacking depth and explanation - something that "Advanced Chemistry" provides and more. However, the mass of information available can make it daunting, however a grid is kindly provided at the Oxford University Press' website, showing which sections of the book are relevant to your syllabus. If you're going for an A in chemistry, then this book will be the perfect companion in your AS/A2 course; more so if you wish study sciences at university level. To give an example of the depth of information offered by this book, a spread is based on "Solving the Schrödinger equation", something which surprised me as being in A-level text book! Many spreads can be omitted and you won't loose vital information; it can truly be tailored to match your course. My only criticism of this book is that firstly, no assistance is provided for coursework (however there is multitude of experiments within the book with results, indicator tests, explanations and etc.). Secondly due to the nature of the book, it isn't the best resource for "tackling" exam papers; for this I suggest revision guides or "exam success" related paraphernalia, but in a counter-argument there are perhaps not many A-level text books/resources that can provide the depth and understanding offered by this book. Thirdly, the practice questions within the book all do not have answers located within the appendix, and some questions are very challenging and seem to be beyond the scope of the information offered in the textbook, but for those of you whom use the "Nuffield Advanced Chemistry Students' Book", this is perhaps nothing new! Although, to compensate for this, there are two pages beset with exam questions after each topic, all of which have answers provided for within the appendix, with some of the questions also being from the main exam boards (Edexcel, OCR and AQA).
Overall, a must have book!
A Fantastic Colourful Upto And Above A2 Chemistry Book
This book is excellent for anyone doing A-level chemistry. It works well as a secondary text book alongside the one suplied by a school. It contains calculations, worked examples and many images of rections. The fact the text go beyond the A2 syllabus is excellent in that it allows the student to have a broader knowledge of chemistry before entering the exam room.
