Two of the best episodes of the Goon Show ever made on here5
On this double CD, you will get 4 complete and unabridged episodes of the Goon Show. Each show is neatly divided up into seperate tracks that play seemlessly, but are really handy if you can't face listening to Max Geldray's screeching harmonica again!!

In my humble opinion, this particular volume is THE one to have. Not only does it contain the brilliant 'Dreaded Batter Pudding Hurler of Bexhill-On-Sea', but also my own personal favourite episode of all time, the amazing 'Jet Propelled Guided NAAFI'. As usual, these volumes contain one or two good shows, and one or two distinctly average shows. This volume is no exception, bar the fact that the two good episodes on here are infact 'great' episodes!

For any newcomer to the humour of Spike Milligan and the Goons, this is a great place to start. Despite some dated jokes and references to 'current' politicians and situations, the vast majority of the comedy contained in these shows is still amazingly fresh and accessible to just about anyone with a sense of humour. But it is not just Spike Milligan's surreal comic genius that makes these shows worth a listen (and buying), but also the performances that Sellers, Secombe and Milligan deliver. Constantly full of energy and fun, not to mention more than their fair share of vocal talent (esp. Peter Sellers), it is impossible not to just sit back and be entertained by The Goons. And here in the 'reality TV generation' of mundane shows that barely pass for entertainment, how ironic that a comedy show from the 1950's be like a breath of fresh air...

Undoubtedly Goontastic5

Laugh til you cry5
This is, without doubt, one of the true classics. Completely hilarious. I introduced my pre teen stepchildren to it on car journeys, it was not long before the elder two were word perfect. One of the best cures for "are we nearly there yet??" that I have ever found.
