Fantastic book5
First off a few basics - the book is a novelisation of Resident evil 2 not 3. (Book 2 was an original novel). It follows the storyline that u get if u played Leon A and then Claire B (more or less).

Unlike in the game - the book goes through the events in chronological order - switching between Leon and Claire as they encounter new threats, people, people who are a threat, etc.

It also gives the storyline from the point of view of Sherry and Ada when they are seperated from the main charcters at the start of the book. As they meet the main charcters the story tends just to switch between the two pairings.

Also Cheif Irons is given a slightly bigger role in the book, as is Annette when our heroes reach the lab.

Being a novel, it concentrates more on the charters thoughts and feelings - and completely ignores the puzzles they have to negotiate - which makes for a more enjoyable read.

The book also makes the charcters a lot more 3-dimensional. For example in the game - Claire comes across as simply being obsessed with finding her brother, but in the book, whilst it remains an important part of the story, it is less prominent.

Overall the book is very atmospheric, with good visual descriptions. It also helps to explain a few of the odd things like why Ada looks dressed for a cocktail party.

If your expecting the charcters to have the same waeponery as in the game, think again. Claires massive arsenol of a knife, a handgun, a bow gun, a grenade launcher, an electric cattle prodder thing, a sub-machine gun and a rocket launcher(for the lat bit) becomes = a knife, two handguns and a machine gun(for the last bit). meanwhile Leon gets a MAGNUM to START the book with (sigh ... if only the same applied to the game) and then a shotgun.

It is to S.D.Perry's credit how she refers to lickers and the tyrant as "inside out men" and "Mr X" when it isn't Annette or Ada speaking - after all the charcters wouldn't know their names.

As part of the series, references to the events of books 1 and 2 are made mainly in chapter one (which features Jill, Chris and Barry leaving Racoon city - i know this clashes with RE3 - nemesis - but who cares) and the epilogue.

Important Note - if u haven't read the 2nd book, but are planning to - DO NOT READ THE EPILOGUE! It will ruin some of the story in the second book.

This book also keeps the Trent storyline going and sets it up for the fourth book.

Overall if u liked the general story of the game - u will more than likely like the book - reccommended.

Pure resident evil kick ass class5
After enjoying Caliban Cove, I couldn't wait to read the next resi book... City of the Dead.
However it is based on the game; Resident Evil 2, therefore I wasn't sure how this was going to be as the umbrella conspiracy was a bit boring after being based on a game.
Nonetheless, this book kept me interested and I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. One thing that contributed to the improvement was that S.D Perry has not included the boring key collecting bits, which let the first book down.
This is typical Stephani Perry class! It has her stylish descriptions that create atmosphere. The interpretation from game to book was excellent this time round as it involved the characters emotions and thoughts a lot more. Instead of making it seem like just a physical copy of a game, Perry has made it seem like an interpretation of a fast paced action movie, with creepy horror bits in all the right places. Perry has done a very good job here

Resident Evil 3 : City Of The Dead5
I recently had to choose a book for my English Study so I picked a book which interested me, this was it.
I had read the first 2 before I read this one and it is the best of the all the 6 Resident Evil Books, it will keep you wanting more from the Resident Evil world.
It is based on the 2nd Video game which is impressive in itself but the book really takes you indepts with the characters Leon and Clair. If you want a book that has an amazing story, great characters and well.....lots of Zombies then this is the book for you!!!!!!
