Another Hit By Uematsu
Listening to this CD, I realised that just like the latest member of the Final Fantasy saga has a greatly medieval feel to it, going back to the roots of earlier games. As with other soundtrack's Nobuo Uematsu has managed to create a fantastic set of musics but without making it as good as Final Fantasy VII's.
Now this soundtrack has something about it, Loss of Me brings a great deal of needed sadness to the CD. As with other Final Fantasy games, a large portion of it revolves around one track, in this case, Melodies Of Life; sung by the amazing Emiko Shiratori. Crossing the Knoll is a fantastically well put together piece of music and I fell in love with the Harp track Terra. The Soulless Village (a remix of Terra) brings a sense of depression and a twist of abused sadness.
Unrequited Love takes (in my opinion) a welcome trip back down memory lane as it uses the roots of earlier games, using a slow, sad tune for a town music (used in Alexandria). You're Not Alone is simply gorgeous and within the game itself, is used to great effect. Tracks like Vamo'Alla Flamenco (Chocobo Hot & Cold) and Beyond The Door brings fun back into the soundtrack with small, fast notes and repeating tracks slowly building up.
Song Of Memory uses once again, Emiko Shiratori to hum the chorus of Melodies of Life to a Harp backing to produce Garnet's mysterious tune.
Kuja's theme brings a horrible sense of evil to the soundtrack, perfect for his job description and exceptionally well composed with the piano amidst other instruments. The ever omni-staying Moogle Theme from Final Fantasy's V & VI has returned and is in full power with it's ameliorated track.
Another of my favourites had to be Black Mage Village, because not only did it bring a sense of fun to the characters who normally spend their time killing, it also uses a small piece of music from the Alton Towers music (People living in the UK will know what I'm talkin about)!
Dark Messenger is a very nicely put togther battle theme very worthy of the game sequence, it's nasty, almost scary tune brings urgency and desperation to kill the enemy in a battle of pure adrenalin.
Finally, Melodies of Life, as previously mentioned, sung by Emiko Shiratori and the basis for many pieces on the soundtrack. The lyrics are very meaningful and its sad/happy tune and words turn this song into the perfect bitersweet love song that it deserves to be.
Conclusion: Although I have to admit that I prefer the Final Fantasy VII Soundtrack, I'd have to tell anyone who even considers buying it to buy it as soon as they can, it will be a decision you won't regret. Once again, another hit by Nobuo Uematsu, a king to music!
~By Kupo Mog
The best music ever.
Im a huge fan of the final fantasy games, and one of the best things about them is the wonderful music. I simply love the music, and i don't care how much im gonna pay, cause this music is worth gold if you ask me. I suggest all of you out there to buy this music. If you really like it, then save up some money, and get it. Its a must if youre a fan of FF.
Final Fantasy, it can't get any more wonderfull.
This is one of the most fantastic (by far) Final Fantasy Soundtracks that Squaresoft (SquareEnix now) have produced for us.
To me Final Fantasy IX has had some of the best music by far in any Final Fantasy. This and the Final Fantasy X Soundtrack, are my second favourite soundtracks after the Final Fantasy VII Soundtrack. The only disadvantage to the Final Fantasy IX Soundtrack is that you will to dosh out another £19.99 to get Final Fantasy IX Plus (which includes all the 42 orchestra music tracks and a couple of tracks that were supposed to be released with the Final Fantasy IX Soundtrack).
My personal favourite tracks are the, Attack of the Nova Dragons, Battle Theme 1 and 2, Quina's Theme, Final Battle, Wall of the Eidolons, and many more.
If you are a lover of the Final Fantasy music than dosh out some cash and get the Final Fantasy IX Original Soundtrack and prepare to be dazzled by the magic of Final Fantasy IX!!!
