Beautiful, Perfect Music
I saw this film just a few days ago for the second time. The way Silvestri's score is used in the film is astounding. When the heart-warming and heart-wrinching strings come in for the first time (when Hanks finally escapes the island) it is a moment that requires me to go see this film over and over. The scene itself is worth paying six bucks for. I've cried at this particular point both times. The score is perfectly used here and if you're into those sappy and beautiful and poignant and wonderful kinds of film scores, I highly recommend this one.
cast away could have been better
Cast away-the last track is very moving. The strings really bring out the emotion of quietness, loneliness and despair but still, other 4 minutes of the track was really sounds of the ocean, which would have been better still if there was more music to it. But the first 3 minutes is good and sounds of the ocean will do for those who don't visit the sea side often.
But whether or not it is worth buying the CD needs a little thinking unless you are a Alan Silvestri fan. Still, it is not a total lost, it has tracks from contact, and forrest gump, which equally bring out a tune of peace and ease. The other classic hits like the back to the future trilogy, just brings you back to the time you saw the movie. It would have been better still if the theme from 'Father of the bride' was included. That way, it truly would have been a compliation of greatest hits, but it is only strictly music he composed to director Robert Zemeckis's movie.
The best of Silvestri!!
I remember seeing this film for the first time. I thought to myself "Where's the music?"! And then I heard it for the first time, when he left the Island, and the beautiful and heartwarming strings play the first few key's, it brought more then one tear to my eyes! And then after that Silvestri used variations of theme towards the end of the film at just the right points!!
I still cry this very day when I listen to the music.
I recommend this music to anyone!!
