Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
As peopled by John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale, director Peter Chelsom's romantic fable Serendipity mines a familiar vein: what if a pair of attractive protagonists engaged to others suddenly found themselves madly in love? If the premise is as vintage Hollywood as popcorn, its soundtrack is smartly contemporary, a collection of new songs (by Evan & Jaron, Shawn Colvin, Wood, Heather Nova, John Mayer and Chantal Kreviazuk) and well-selected album cuts (by Annie Lennox, Nick Drake, Bap Kennedy and David Gray) filled out with a loopy slice of vintage Louis Armstrong ("Cool Yule") and a jazzy solo piano-score excerpt by film composer Alan Silvestri. The tone shifts warmly between jangly alterna-pop, folk-tinged and quieter, more jazz/blues flavoured cuts. It's tasteful, sensual stuff--and largely devoid of the cloying bathos of similar Hollywood romantic fare.--Jerry McCulley

Serendipity Soundtrack5
Although this album definitely has a Dawson's Creek vibe, it is more than just a chick-flick soundtrack. There are some big names in the form of David Gray and Annie Lennox, but this soundtrack doesn't fall into the trap of cramming in cheesy chart hits that barely even feature in the movie. There are some fantastic instrumental tracks, the poptastic 'Distance' by Evan & Jaron, and there's even a feel-good crimbo tune thrown in for good measure. But I challenge anyone who's a sucker for romance not to fall in love with the ballad, 'When You Know'. You'll be humming it for days!!

I bought this CD without hearing it before. I loved the film and wasn't disapointed with the soundstrack. It is mellow and romantic - one of those CDs you put on and it's over before you realise you were listening. That, to me, is the sign of the perfect easy listening, mellow, chillout albulm. There are 4-5 really cool tracks and whatever your mood, the music is great. Deffinitely worth the money.

Having seen the film and enjoyed the music in it I felt the next logical step was to get the soundtrack, and I was not disappointed!
Its got a really chilled Dawsons Creek sort of feel to it so if you like the Dawsons Creek soundtracks you'll probably like this. My favorite track is "Never a day goes by"-it has been in my head for days!
