Spider-Man: The Movie allows fans to play as Spider-Man in several highly detailed 3-D environments inspired by Sam Raimi's live-action feature film. This full roaming action-adventure game allows you to jump into the suit of a fledgling Marvel superhero and learn how to battle the forces of evil. Crawl, leap, and swing from the dizzying heights of skyscrapers to catch criminals and supervillains, and, ultimately, come face-to-face with the Green Goblin in a death-defying display of aerial combat. During the course of the game you must use Spider-Man's spider sense, agility, quick wits, and strength to evade the pursuit of the bad guys and overcome obstacles.

Amazon.co.uk Review
Just as the new film is a great improvement on the already solid original, so too is Spider-Man 2: The Movie (the game) a significant improvement on previous video game simulations of New York's friendly neighbourhood web-slinger.

As you'd expect, the new game works along the same basic lines as the last one but is actually a very noble attempt to completely expand the concept and the way it's implemented. The biggest change is the that the game is now much more free-form, rather than being strictly mission based, and you can swing around New York City all you like, getting involved in side quests (such as stopping minor robberies) before getting around to the wider plot.

The actual business of web-slinging has been greatly improved so that your webbing now actually connects with buildings, instead of just attaching to thin air, and so the whole business of getting around the city becomes more "realistic". The combat system has also been completely overhauled, although it's still fair to say that the interior levels are far less entertaining than bouncing around New York and getting involved in aerial scraps.

The game realises this though and the majority of the action now takes place outside as you not only follow the plot of the movie, taking on main bad guy Dr Octopus, but also tackling some of Spidey's other villains from the comic books, including the Vulture, Rhino and Shocker--as well as meeting alternative love interest Black Cat. Hopefully someday all comic book games will be this good.--David Jenkins

must buy for all you spidey fans!4
this is possibly the best graphically enhanced game on the Gamecube so-far. Even though the graphics are impecable the one liners get rather repetitive and boring and sometimes the camera angles are confusing but oh!! my god the graphics and gameplay cannot be beaten and the combos that can be pulled of look excellent and to add to all of that the suppervillans look better than ever except maybe 'The Vulture' who doesnt look as good as expected and i love the new get-up for 'Scorpion'the whole metal thing really pulls off for you. so my overall conclusion is BUY THIS GAME AS IT TOTALLY ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spider Man3
the character (spider man)and his environment are both spot on with the spidey model containing a gorgous amount of texture detail on his siut and shiny eyes. the way he moves is perfect whether he is squating underneath a ceiling or moving through the air showing off the spidey style we all love. the animation is pretty good too showing the silky smooth, graceful air movements both through the air or from rooftop to rooftop. in the game spider man gets to battle with the likes of the vulture the scorpian and of course the green goblin (the main boss). the high point of the game is over the city at sundown batteling the green goblin above the ticker tape parrade. this is a beutiful level. the only problem with this game is the camera angles. the camera wont behave itself when you most need it. this game has freat visulas very qiuck and colourful. this game is a must for fans of the film.

good, but limited3
As a long-time Spidey fan, I really wanted to like this game. The training levels are really good, especially the "big brawl" which gives you 3 minutes against masses of bad guys, and the "web-platforms" where you have to swing onto pinball-style bumpers placed in midair. But the actual missions are a bit boring, and there's little incentive to play again and again. There are some really nice touches, like the reflections in the hero's eye slits, and the one-liners (OK, they are a bit repetitive after a while, but they do capture the atmosphere of the comic book). If you're a fan of the web-slinger, then you'll REALLY want to play this, because the battling and swinging really captures the comic book. But the game needs to be playable, and needs to make you keep coming back, and that's what's lacking here.
