Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force is as close as we've come so far to actually being able to participate in an away team mission. The plot of this first-person shooter is pure Star Trek: during a battle with an alien ship, the badly damaged USS Voyager is transported by mysterious means to a strange spaceship graveyard. It isn't long before the Voyager crew members discover they aren't the only abductees trying to escape. As a member of Voyager's newly formed hazard team, it's your job to secure required repair materials, gather information about the other survivors, and ultimately enable Voyager to resume its long journey home.

Frequently there are two or more team members with you, which lets missions play out more like episodes from the series than a solo firefight that just happens to take place in a Star Trek setting. Other team members will disable security fields, analyse data, converse with you as the mission progresses, and add some much-needed firepower in the tough battle sequences. Elite Force uses the Quake III engine to good effect, serving up some beautiful environments, colourful special effects, and smooth frame rates.

The Elite Force Mission Pack attempts to fill in the gaps in the original Elite Force. Hardcore Voyager fans may be pleased with the Virtual Voyager mode, which enables you to wander around the ship, interacting with crew members and equipment. However, some may find getting lost in Voyager's labyrinthine corridors a little frustrating and tasks to complete, items to collect and mini-games to discover are too heavily interspersed with pointless corridor wandering to be particularly entertaining.

The single player game remains unchanged, save for the inclusion of Jeri Ryan's voice. This is disappointing because one major gripe was the shortness of the original adventure. Similarly, the new holo-training missions are a very hit-and-miss affair, offering little more than bland variations of the original holo-distractions. It's not all bad though; there are enough new maps and model skins to accompany most online gamers right through puberty. New modes include Assimilation--a Borg-themed version of Tag--and Elimination, a last-player-standing variation. Disintegration provides a frenetic "one-shot kills" mode and Action Hero sees players trying to neutralise the Hero in order to earn enhanced weapons and abilities.

Despite the volume of extras, the expansion pack only really improves on the multiplayer game and single player fans won't be missing much. As such this will only appeal to those who truly love Voyager and Elite Force; less fanatical fanatics will have to boldly go elsewhere for their fix.--Tae Mawson

The double-pack provides a lot of entertainment for a great price. Elite Force is quite simply, one of the best and most realistic Star Trek games ever. The expansion pack improves upon it with the excellent Virtual Voyager. However, you can't go to every deck and some of the interactive options (Red Alert and Shutting down the Warp Core) end up upsetting key crewmembers such as Janeway, Chakotay and Torres who yell at you with such phrases as "What the hell are you doing?". This ruins the point of the experience. Also, I spent hours trying to find out how to get to Deck 15, especially since it doesn't appear when you're in the turbolift. I soon found out you had to use the transporter. As with the first game, crew-members still react with annoyance when you try to talk to them. However, there are good points such as the Jeri Ryan voice-pack. Being a 7 of 9 fan, I was instantly pleased with this, especially since the original woman from the first game sounded so un-convincing. Now, when I bother Seven of Nine, she says things like, "You seem to have developed an unhealthy obsession with me." This makes me smile as it is so true.
A great game-pack for avid fans.

Well ... It's not like a game .....
After ordering this game (from Amazon.co.uk) i couldnt wait 2 get my teeth into it! Once the game started i loved it and thought that the enviroments and indeed everything in the game where VERY well produced. The hollo deck was fantastic, the bridge was very realistic and the general game was very well created.

The levels kept me playing and i had trouble keeping off the game. Like most games once you have completed it you don't use them much, but with this game you have the option of playing over the internet with new people from all over the world ... I particually liked this because you can talk 2 your players and feel like you are really in with the action instead of playing against a normal computer.

Over all a very, very good game and i would recomend to all star trek fans!

Star Trek Voyager Elite Force Expansion Pack
When I ordered this game, I was really excited. Normally I order a game and end up with something completely different. But I extremely happy, even the price was great. The game wasn't too easy, but not too hard, it was just right. I was thrilled with most things, the graphics were very good, they had the actual voices of the cast from Voyager which was great, the multiplayer had loads of maps and characters, you could even go into black and white and be Captain Proton in Virtual Voyager. But I found the storyline could have been a bit better and on the virtual Voyager, if you kill somebody like that big headed Chakotay who's has been needing a good pummelling scince the show began, that paranoid Chell, that cocky Biessman, that anoying Paris, those rude crewmen (I shall come back to that later) or if you just want a good ol' killing spree, after a couple seconds you find yourself in the brig. On single Multiplayer I set up everyone as people from Voyager, the first couple of times it worked, but then everone turned different people, above this Reaver it had Jayneway. And on team player the AI wouldn't stay on the right team and when they did, they wouldn't listen to me although I proclaimed myself team leader. Those rude crewmen, I over rank them, so why are they rude? Although those complaints may seem alot, but You still can't ignore that it's a great game. I would advise you to wait for Voyager Elite Force 2 as the release date is hurdling towards us, but if you want a game set in the Voyager timelline, this is the game to buy!
