A New Era of Portable Gaming - and its not Gameboy Advance!
When I bought my gamecube from America, three months ago, I also picked up the 5" screen, since I was starting to get tired of my Gameboy Advance already. I was worried, however, that my copy of Luigi's Mansion would not show up properly due to it being an LCD screen. Luckily, I was wrong, with it working fantastically along with Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 and Super Smash Bros: Melee. It works about as well as a TV screen. The sound is fantastic too, with twin speakers, along with two headphone sockets, perfect for Super Smash Bros Melee multiplayer with my sister. The screen is also backlit like a normal TV for playing in poor light conditions. Although obviously not as portable as a GBA , it easily folds flat and fits in the official carrying case neatly. It comes with everything that you need, and runs off the car adapter. Just make sure you unplug it when you stop playing it, otherwise it'll run down the car battery. It is best played in the car, since the battery costs a lot and does not last too long,. The asking price for the Screen is pretty expensive.., but is more than worth it for long journeys, and a great game like Super Smash Melee or Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 won't get as boring as quick as a GBA game. So, heres the run down;
Pros
Clear Screen
Great Sound
Brilliant Design
Almost as portable as the GBA
Cons
Short Battery
Difficult when playing a 2 player game (quick suggestion, get a wavebird dso wires won't be a nuisance)
Total
9.5 out of 10
Disappointing lack of contrast.
I don't know whether my screen was faulty but I found it to be virtually useless on some games. Most of the detail was bleached out, even with the brightness turned right down. 'Rogue Leader' was unplayable, especially on the Hoth level. All I could see was a white screen and my ship. I strongly reccomend that you see this screen in action before you buy it. Mine is going straight back.
