CD Description
Serving as the crossroads for all things hardcore, emo, ska, and pop-punk, Side One Dummy Records gives Epitaph a run for its money with ATTICUS:aDRAGGING THE LAKE II. At a time when most CDs can easily cost a twenty spot, SODR offers a killer business model to the music industry with a bargain basement-priced comp packed with previously unreleased songs byA-list names. Among the many rare goodies are Blink 182's ode to porn "Don't Tell Me That It's Over", Down By Law's mosh-pit friendly "Next to Go", and "Vacant Skies", a Sparta nugget packed with rumbling rhythms and multi-textured guitar parts.
Old-school punk fans will be delighted to find cuts by the Mighty Mighty Bosstones (the anthemic "A Jackknife to a Swan"), the Dropkick Murphys (a bagpipe-infused "Fiels of Athenry"), and Rocket From The Crypt (the raucous "I'm Not Invisible"). Kids from the emo brigade will be thrilled tofind Finch (a grinding "Worm of the Universe") and Taking Back Sunday (the aching "You're So Last Summer") getting their due as well. Other notable names making the cut include Jets to Brazil, Hot Water Music, the Alkaline Trio, and Box Car Racer.

Atticus - Dragging The Lake; Volume II
Atticus have done it again. Following on from the unquestionable success of Volume I, they have again put together a great mix of new music, showing that they have an ear for genuine talent. Gone are the likes of The Starting Line and New Found Glory, who are now finding deserved success in their own rights, and in come such creative masters as Thrice, Jets To Brazil and Further Seems Forever.
Atticus have blended the style and substance of edgier artists Finch and Bane with the sing along nature of Dropkick Murphys and The Suicide Machines, all interspersed with the disturbingly enjoyable pop punk of Blink 182 and Lagwagon, and they have done it with consummate skill.
The highlights on this album follow each other in quick succession, with every song being enjoyable to almost everyone, such is the mix and quality of all the artists on show.
From start to finish, this is an album to sit and listen to, an album to feel good about, and an album to introduce you to a variety of great new talent.
I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I do.
Atticus!
How can a clothing company produce such a great compilation.
Mark and Tom and the rest of Atticus clothing company have created another great CD!
The first Dragging The Lake... was a masterpiece but this one really tops it.
I reccomend this CD to anyone with a varied opinion of Punk bands.
ENJOY!
punk rock journey
As far as punk goes it doesnt get better than this
dragging the lake is a non stop journey through the whole punk scene with only a few stops on the way..
I can be honest and say that I have not heard of many of the bands on the album until now but I am finding myself just randomly spotting albums from some of the bands (aka the Transplants and Mighty Mighty Bosstones) and snapping them all up.
With only a few points within that make me reach for the skip button and mostly from the big boys like finch and box car racer, but is superbly overshadowed by some real gems by the dropkick murphys and matchbook romance, to say the least this album is a near to punk perfect as we can expect. bring on number 3
