Amazon.co.uk Review
Scrabble Classic is the Rolls Royce of Scrabble games. It has polished wooden tiles, wooden tile racks and a classic game board. This is a return to real class--just like buying a vintage car.

Scrabble play consists of forming interlocking words from letter tiles, rather like a crossword. The object of the game is to score the highest number of points by making the longest words using the highest scoring tiles.

Each player has seven letter tiles that are replenished after each turn and forms a word on the board with two or more letters from his rack. Players can only add letters to those already played, either forming new words or modifying those already laid. Scores can be hugely boosted by forming words across the double and triple letter score spaces and double and triple word score spaces.

The game ends when all the tiles from the pool have been taken, and either one of the players has used all his tiles or no-one can form any more words. The player with the highest score wins.

Scrabble seems to have been around forever and been forever popular. This classic edition is one for those who like to play in real style. --Ben King

Customer Reviews

Disappointed1
Having read the previous reviews about this being the Rolls Royce of Scrabble and a great experience for the older generation, I purchased this as a gift for my in-laws. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!
On opening the box you will find wooden racks that are so roughly finished you could get splinters from them. In addition the tiles have not been printed uniformly, some letters are at the top of the tile, some in the middle and some at the bottom. Given that the board when opened out has a huge crease along it making it impossible to lay tiles sensibly, all in all this was a great disappointment to me and the recipients of the gift. My advice - pay the extra and get Scrabble Deluxe ( if you can get hold of it) and shop around - mine was £31.

Poor value for money3
Poor value for money compared with later editions: no pencils, score-pads, bags for tiles. Dissatisfied. Exaggerated sales pitch.

Old time style5
Scrabble exists in many forms but the Classic is the classic. The soft tone of the playing board and all pieces in wood makes for familiar experience when played by the older generation!
