    Crystal clear5
The Logitech Stereo USB Headset 20 was simple to install with no need to install any drivers on my Windows XP Pro machine.

After inserting the USB connection I did notice I lost all sound from my main PC speakers however this was easily changed from the sound panel allowing you to choose if the sound is played back through the headset or your main speakers.

This product worked well with type talk software, MSN and net meeting which each program also has a sound set up allowing you again to choose where the sound is played back from.

The noise-cancelling microphone is located on the end of a flexible swivel arm allowing you to position the mic correctly and most importantly allowing you to move it out of the way easily for a drink or to use the phone without having to take it off. The sound quality is clear and accurate with the noise – cancelling being able to ignore most noises from as near as 1ft.

The headphone ear pieces seem small at first but you’ll soon get used to it and providing clear stereo quality sound and complete with a long enough lead to allow you to comfortably sit at your desk without the wires getting in the way.

Up and running in 20 seconds5
Genuine Plug&Play. Plugged headset into USB, was instantly detected by Windows XP, no software installation required, it just worked. This is how it should be.

Headset is light, adjustable and comfortable, sound is good and distortion-free, though for the size and price obviously not as rich as (larger and more expensive) hi-fi headphones. This inexpensive model might not have inline (stuck on the cable) volume control or a mute switch, but these features plus balance adjustment can be done from your PC's speaker control window.

I've been using mine with Skype (very cheap or free internet telephone, look for it on the web especially if you need to dial abroad, very easy to install and use) and it works fine -- at least from the point of view of my receiving (i.e. the headphones work). To test the microphone, my wife phoned me using the headset, and I picked up her voice perfectly well on a land line.

So there you have it, reasonable price, hassle-free and quick installation, adjusts to head nicely and functions very well (perhaps taking into account size and price). It's so rare these days that I get the satisfying experience of plug and go (what a friendly piece of kit!), that I've got to give this one a five.

    Good Value for Money4
Although I have a high-end PC with a quality sound card and stereo speaker system, what I lacked was a headset for communicating on Skype (the free IP telephone). This headset fits the bill exactly. You plug it in and it works. The headband is not restrictive and the audio quality is excellant.

Do bear in mind that USB headsets will bypass your soundcard. For communication use this is a positive benefit !

I only drop one star on this review because of the packaging. It took a good ten minutes and a cut finger to get the box opened. There has to be a better (safer) way of packaging goods such as this.
