Product Description

Set for the first time in the Pacific Theatre of Operations from 1941-1944, Medal of Honor Rising Sun gives players a sense of the courage it took to fight the Japanese from Pearl Harbour to the shores of the Philippine Islands. Players will assume the role of Marine Corporal Joseph Griffin, as he survives the attack on Pearl Harbour, leads the assault of Guadalcanal, and finally rescues his brother from a Japanese POW camp in the Philippines.

Armed with his wits and a variety of authentic weapons, it's up to players to stop the Japanese war machine in its tracks. Players can even team up with a friend in the all-new co-op multi-player mode to battle the Japanese forces. Along the way, players will earn awards and medals for their meritorious service in defeating the enemy.

As with the original Medal of Honor, the producers sought council from numerous outside sources to make certain the game is as historically authentic and realistic as possible. Captain Dale Dye, who served as military technical advisor on the previous titles in the Medal of Honor franchise, continues his efforts with the Medal of Honor Rising Sun team to ensure the authenticity of the game.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
Following on from a succession of hugely popular campaigns across numerous formats, Medal of Honor: Rising Sun brings the franchise back to consoles with another engrossing first-person action game. The action is taken to the Pacific Theatre for the first time, plunging the player into the shoes of Marine Corporal Joseph Griffin. Over the course of the game, he has a lot to get through too. There's Pearl Harbor to survive. His brother to rescue. And the small matter of a number of Japanese soldiers who stand in the way…

In truth, the formula hasn't moved on much for the franchise, but then it does work spectacularly well. The game's various missions are varied, and they demand elements of stealth, action and a bit of sabotage along the way. And they're not afraid to pull the proverbial rug from underneath to keep you on your toes. As ever, the multimedia elements border on spectacular. The musical scores of Medal of Honor games are rarely given the credit they deserve, but their contribution really can't be understated. The cinematic visuals, however, do tend to hog the headlines, and it's easy to see why. As you fight to complete a mission with explosions going off all around you there's little time to notice them.

A couple of mild criticisms, then. There isn't much scope to deviate from the set path through the game, which is very tightly scripted. Not a bad thing, but not something that will appeal to everyone. Plus it would be nice to see a few more risks taken with the Medal of Honor formula. These mild grumbles aside, Medal of Honor: Rising Sun is simply a very good video game. It's tense, gripping and desperately addictive. And when you ultimately see the end game sequence, you really will be thirsting for more. --Simon Brew

Oh dear...1
Where do I begin on this huge disappointment of a game? When looking for a decent game to keep me occupied over the Christmas hols I saw this game. Immediately basing my opinion on the previous Medal of Honor game "Allied Assualt" and having read no reviews on the game i foolishly sent £30 down the drain for this insult to war games. Initally the game seems OK as you fight alongside your fellow shipmates shooting down enemy planes at Pearl Harbour. Firstly when i noted the planes seemed to burst into flames with 1 bullet (seriously) i begain to get suspicious. However, after the first two levels the whole game seems to just go down hill. The whole sense of an actual war going on is completely abandoned and you are sent off on random missions and you get the feeling EA are just mocking you. The whole game basically has 1 path, with maybe a sudden spark of imagination as theres a 'secret' path which leads straight back to the original about 20 seconds later. Most missions seem to be accomplished by pressing A (ooo challenging) and there seems to be a set routine to mounted machine-guns, you take control of it, some enemies run at you, and die, then you move on... Controlling nearly every weapon puts you on the verge of wanting to just punch the troops on the screen with your hand. By the time you've turned around you could probably have done something useful like do an english essay but increasing sensitivity simply makes aiming even harder, if that's possible. Again, i cannot stress the unwarlike feel to the game, at one point i felt like crying as i actually saw an elephant which had to be used to go throught the jungle (yes, an elephant). Having snipers hiding in trees who seem to be using rifles with some kind of automiss device seem to be a pathetic attempt at making the player interestied. Computer teammates seem incapable of shooting at a target and will happily occupy themselves shooting tree trunks making it seem like they're doing something. The special effects in this game leave a lot to be desired and the multiplayer gives the impression that the USA and Japan have decided to play with their troops and sent them to duel with each other one by one for a laugh, a war with two people simply doesnt work. I'm getting bored now as there is only so much i can say about this game before i start feeling depressed. Basically the game is too short (i finished it in 3 days on hard without playing more than about 2 hours a day), too easy and makes me wish i had never seen the game in the shop. This was such an anti-climax when i first played it and even with two discs the game is truly the worst game i've ever played, even worse than yoshi's story on the N64 which actually took me longer to complete believe it or not. Please for the love of all that is good in the world do not buy this game, you will regret it for the rest of your life.

Don't spend your hard earned money on this game - it's ok...but the graphics are not as good as frontline and once you've completed it (you will, quickly) there's not much - you won't want to play it on single player again as the gameplay is simply get to a machine gun, a wave of japanese attack you, you kill them easily, and repeat process - soon gets very boring.
Don't buy this one, buy Frontline, it is a hundred times better.

Medal Of Honour. Rising Sun1
Quite simply don't bother shelling out your hard earned money to buy this.
I was a fan of Frontline, so didnt even bother reading any reviews of this game...what a mistake.
I am not a hardened gamer and dont sit there for hours at a time but even I finished it in 4 days. Not good enough, even thought I had a faulty disc that cut the game short.MUCH MUCH TOO SHORT!! On a P.C they just might have got away with saying it was an add-on, but as a full price game who do they think they are kidding?!.EA what have you done to a great title....definately wont be buying the next one, even if its at a bargain price. Its like they had a long game then decided to split it in two to make more money. DON'T BOTHER!
