Customer Reviews
Burning and beautiful!
Mix one awesome singer, a group of ridiculous musicians, stir in some sweet tunes with hip arrangements and what do you get? "Lucky Old Sun", by Natalie Williams... that's what.
I can't believe I've only just heard this record by the uber-talented Ms. Williams. This album includes some classic standards (featuring arrangements from pianist Gwilym Simcock, who also plays on the album) and some other choice material such as Metheny's "James", and Sting's "Fragile".
Chick Corea's "Spain" is a real treat for the contemporary jazz fans, particularly for the utterly burning improvising from Simcock(pno), Kaine (dms) Mullarkey (bs) and a sweet scat chorus from Williams herself.
If you don't own this record, you should - and you'll thank me when you do buy it. Amazing work from one of London's [should I say Britain's?] top singers.
Ac-cent-tchu-ate the positive!
A fantastic album absolutely exploding with excitement!
You'll be bowled over by the conviction of the overwhelmingly talented performers and want to be part of their brilliant performances on Lucky Old Sun again and again.
Here's to an incredible debut Jazz album from a natural born jazzer, may there be many many more!
