Manufacturer's Description
Worms comes to PC and console in full 3-D, continuing to capture the true essence of the game as teams of worms battle across bizarre, randomly generated landscapes, or across finely crafted, custom-designed levels utilising an arsenal of devastating weapons. The gameplay remains unchanged, featuring turn-based fighting and relying on the player to judge the trajectory and strength of their shots in order to inflict maximum damage on opponents. All the favourite weapons such as bazooka, grenade, dynamite, air strike and sheep are present including some new additions. Defensive tactics can also be employed as you choose to dig in with buildings, trenches, sandbags or fortifications, while buildings on the landscapes can also provide shelter against attacks. Adapt your strategy according to the weapons available, landscape and each new opponent you play. With a multitude of tactics available, coupled with the ever-changing, randomly generated landscapes, no battle will ever be the same. Worms 3D is set in a more exciting and immersive game world than ever before, with the emphasis on great multi-player action and challenging single-player fun.

A Glorious Way To Wreck Your Social Life5
Well, thank you very much Team 17. That's another social life you've just ruined. I suppose I should clear my diary for the next three months now, there's no chance of me leaving the house for some time.

Worms, for the uninitiated, is a gloriously simple game that burrows into your brain and resolutely refuses to let go. Anyone over the age of 25 will probably remember embryonic versions of this turn-based warfare on BBC or C64 computers in the early 80's. My rubber-keyed Spectrum has a game called Tanks, where two players faced off on a 2D landscape altering the angle and power of their static turrets to try and land a shell on their opponent.

Worms 3D takes that game model, plonks it in a beautifully crafted 3D landscape, replaces the tanks with legions of squeaky voiced, death-or-glory worms and leaves you to rain carnage upon your friends with an inestimable array of hideous weaponry.

The millions of hardened 2D Worms players will already now how infuriatingly addictive these games can be. Part of the Worms appeal lies in the fact that any novice can pick up a controller and lob bazookas and grenades about the landscape with aplomb, but it takes practice and an appallingly loose moral code to really begin to hurt your enemy.

Worms 3D requires a little more patience to get into. Some of the camera angles are a bit ropey and the environment can seem daunting at first. However, after a solid hour of watching my worms inadvertently hurling themselves to a watery demise, I began to adjust. Veterans will find themselves having to learn the whole game all over again, but thankfully it's worth the investment.

There can be no greater joy than releasing a highly explosive sheep over the hills and watching him gambol away, mewing happily, before you cold-heartedly detonate him in the midst of your enemy. The graphics are gorgeous, and the sound is perfect, particularly the subtle 'Splosh' when you blast a worm in to the sea.

This game will wreck relationships, savage friendships and tear families apart. So, leave your soul at the door and embrace Worms 3D. It's sick, depraved and stupid. It's a truly magnificent game.

Worms 3D5
This game truly keeps the spirit of worms alive. Even though this is the 1st worms game to hit the 3d front, it does not let its self down. I truly great game. The graphics are good, and the multiplayer option is great to play with friends. Maybe in the future worms will be a net game? That would be good. All the classic worms weapons are here including Holy Hand Grenade, Mad Cow, Homing Pigeon, and Super Sheep! A great worms game sutible for all.

Close to perfection4
I love the worms titles, always have and this is the jewel in the crown. I can't say enough good things about the gameplay, graphics even the pure comedy that is assured with this title. The conttrols are easy to pick up and the tutorials will have you fighting like an old pro in no time. This game has more options than you would ever need and as expected really comes to life when you play with friends, truly brilliant. I do sadly have two complaints about the game and one is quite off putting. The first complaint is minor and is that the camera angles can be annoying at times and make life difficult for that all important shot. The other problem with the game is that it crashes a lot. After missions the screen tends to go blank and thats it, you can't save your game or anything plus there are audio problems with it too. I'm kinda hoping they will release a bug free version but i think the chances are slim. It's so close to being an amazing game, sadly it's faults are very annoying.
