A TRIUMPH.5
This is a superb soundtrack that vividly captures the unique delights of the Aubrey saga.
We have the incredibly atmospheric pieces that were used in the film in times of tension and they are followed by the joyous violin and cello favourites of Aubrey/Maturin which in turn are followed by the moving score that was set to the scenes of lamentation and so on.
This C.D is a must whether you are wanting to be reminded of the incredible film, are a fan of the books and want a background to your reading(highly reccomended), are a fan of inspirational sountracks, or just enjoy good music.
A sheer delight.

Beautiful5
There is something beautiful and enthrawling about the violin and the cello and since watching this movie and especially since listening to the soundtrack I will always hear the violins in the waves of the sea.

The last track - one by Bocherini, a composer whom I think should be as popular as Mozart or Beethoven I think really makes this sountrack what it is. Changeable and full of hidden energy.

Even without seeing the movie this soundtrack can be enjoyed, but of course it does help to visualise what you hear.

A good movie sountrack is one where you can feel and see the movie within it, it reflects the character and the memory of the movie on its own and not just thre to accompany dull scenese. (All depends on the movies of course - but this type of movie warrented an extra good soundtrack)

Definately worth the buy to relive the dramatic scenes and then bath in the beauty and thoughtful sounds of the string instruments.

Master & Commander Soundtrack5
I so much enjoyed seeing the film a couple of times and seeing Patrick O'Brian's Jack Aubrey brought to life. I can hardly wait for the DVD, but in the meantime this CD brings back delightful memories. The original music is powerful, and beautifully interspersed with the musical interludes in Aubrey's cabin and the delightful sweet sound of violin and cello and the music of Mozart, Bach and Boccherini, plus a little Vaughan Williams.

It would have been nice to have had the shanties around the captain's table included, but other than that I rate this CD highly.
