Manufacturer's Description
Following the critical and commercial success of the release of Patrician 2 in International markets in 2001, Ascaron proudly announce the release of Patrician III in Q4 2003, for English and French speaking markets.
Patrician III is a real-time trading simulation featuring elements of construction and the historical background of maritime trade in Northern Europe during the 1300’s.
As a resident of a medieval town, your goal is to rise from the status of a simple, insignificant trader to that of a Patrician and perhaps even become the head of the Hanseatic League. You can raise your standing through town improvement and diplomacy or fill your coffers through piracy and smuggling. Many new missions now exist for the player. The playtime and difficulty to become Alderman of the Hanseatic League have been increased. With Patrician III the game doesn't end when the player reaches the rank of Alderman. Additional missions and quests guarantee more fun, longer playability and player satisfaction.

Trading up!
This game is highly adictive! I think it is well worth the price; but I wouldn't consider paying any more for it. Why? Well the game IDEA is good, any fans of SIM type games will appreciate it, however with the idea of building up a financial and people popular base to gain increased respect to move from shop-keeper to mayer etc it means the whole game is farily repetitive in nature.
Also the tutorial is REALLY BORING! Yet the game is so complicated that to have the smallest idea of what your doing you need to do it.
In it's favour the graphics are decent and the little towns people are cute. The idea of the game is addictive and the interaction with the different types of buildings is fun. For example you can give travellers a lift on your ships or do a bit of good fun smuggling! All by clicking on the tavern!
All in all this is an ace game. Most importantly like, all good games, it is addictive.
Patrician III (nice game shame about the bugs)
Ok If you Like trading games, then this will be right up your trade route so to speak, if you don't then you'll probably find this game boring and dump it after half hour of play.
With this said I'm a fan of trading games and as such found the game chalanging and engrossing, the sudden realisation that it's 3 o'clock in the morning is still a bit of a shock no matter how much of a killing you had just made on skins. The graphic's are nothing special, but this has not reduced anything from the game play, the sounds could become annoying, if you sat and listened to them, but they match the era and feel of the game enough, that while playing you dont notice that there is any music playing most of the time.
Ok if I enjoyed the game so much why such a low score?, the game itself is just great what lets it down is the fact that it is really unstable, not that there are that many obvious bugs in it, its just that the one's that are in, are in areas that as you play you will encounter alot. Dispite this I'd still recommend any-one buying the game if they like this type, as it will be one of the best in its field, but they may consider waiting till Ascrion release the first patch for it. As for me, I'm going to go back to its predecessor (Patrician 2) for a while at least untill the patch comes out.
