Manufacturer's Description
If you own digital appliances that use different flash memory types, the Hama 6-in-1 USB Memory Card Reader is for you. This compact media reader reads and writes to SmartMedia, CompactFlash, Memory Stick, Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard and IBM Microdrive memory cards from one unit.

Use the Hama 6-in-1 reader to transfer photographs from your digital camera, songs from your portable music player, movies or still images from your digital video camcorder and more. It eliminates the hassle of disconnecting printers, modems or other peripherals from your computer to upload files from digital devices.

Direct cable connections can drain the batteries from your digital appliances as you transfer data. Use the card instead to extend the battery life of your digital appliances. The card reader is powered by your computer, so it doesn't require its own external power source.

The Hama 6-in-1 reader is a mass storage device, which means that no software installation is required on systems using Windows 2000, ME or XP and Macintosh OS 10 1.2 and higher. Just plug it in and it's ready to use. Driver installation for other operating systems takes just a minute or two.

Amazing Value5
This card reader is superb value. Simply take it straight from the box, plug it into your USB port and XP detects it with ease. Slip in your memory card and go to control panel or explorer and voila - there are the drives containing your files.
Couldn't be simpler and it works extremely well.
This has been a Godsend for someone like me who spent ages and countless batteries trying to download pics from my camera using a serial port connection.

Simple, cheap and functions perfectly5
I have a load of reasons to use a multifunction card reader (and writer!). We have a Sony DV camcorder which takes memory sticks, a Canon A80 digital camera which takes CompactFlash cards and various SmartMedia cards where I read and write low memory OS's for wireless devices. Needless to say it works impeccably, automatically installs and functions under Win2000Pro and WinXP, connects to USB and basically does-what-it-says-on-the-box.

We have a similar unit at work that cost 10 times more about 6 months ago... yes 10 times more, yet this is more functional, more reliable, doesn't need "jiggling" make the memory card sit in the holder properly and sits snuggly under my TFT flat screen making it highly accessible. The cable is reasonable if not a little short, but the unit is not exactly printer-sized, so who cares. Sit it on top of your PC and it'll work where-ever.

This really is an essential peice of equipment if you use or have any sort of memory cards/sticks. And at this price, even if you get the 1-in-a-million duff unit (unlikely) it's not going to break the bank. I feel I need a new unit at work... one more order on the way!

Thoroughly deserves its 5 stars.

A Dream To Setup and Use5
I was a bit sceptical about buying this because of the low price but I'm glad I did!! I just connected it up via USB and windows XP installed it automatically. A dream to use, writes extremely fast. Reccomend to all!!
