Zen Extra the way to go
After reading up on both the Zen Extra and various Ipod's out there Idecided to go with the Zen. The battery issues of the Ipod and having toreturn the whole player to the company concerned me. How long will ittake for the battery to be replaced when all these "millions" of Ipodowners send them off at the same time? So I went for the Zen. Cheaper,more memory and no sending the machine back every couple of years swungit. At first I was a bit disappointed with the Zens maximum volume level. Most older CD tracks were very quiet on even the loudest setting. After afrustrating week or so of messing with controls and browsing websites Icame across someone who had had the same concerns. Aparently it is fittedwith European Law standard firmware which limits the volume so you cannotsue anybody when you blow your eardrums listening to AC/DC on full blast. I solved this by going to the American website and downloaded the firmwarefrom there. The sound level is now spot on and the quality amazing. So ifyou aren't the kind of person who needs to follows the masses I highlyrecommend the Zen Extra. It may not be considered as trendy but you won'tget mugged for it either!! If you can afford the 60 gig version all thebetter. I got the firmware from here:

This has to be the perfect choice for anyone wanting an mp3 player !

I was originally looking at the ipods...no chance, I would not pay that amount for something that I can get £100 pounds cheaper with more memory and extras. Thats when I started looking into creative labs products. First I was looking at the Creative Labs Jukebox Zen NX, which seemed quite good apart from the problems with software.
This put me off the Zen Nx a bit, so I started looking into other creative labs products. Thats when I discovered this product. It is AMAZING!. I bought it on the 26th january and haven't put it down since!
It has a easily accessible menus with images for different sections, easy to use buttons ( not too many to get confused over ) and a huge cool blue screen. The 30 gig space is all I will ever need. It can hold all the albums I own with over half of the memory still left.
So if you want an easy, accessible, stylish MP3 player then you will want the Creative Labs Jukebox Zen Xtra 30GB.

Take your whole CD collection on Holiday
This is my second MP£ player , and 1st Hard driver player . If your like me and enjoy your music this is a must buy. Last time a went away I took a 512 MP3 player with me and still had to pack Casstte tapes of music to listen too . Therefore I looked at hard driver players. Having Compared the Zen xtra to the I Pod , the Zen wins hands down. Changeable Battery is the best advangate this player havs over the IPOD however the Sounds is excellent , Battery life is good , and the Features within the unit for playlists and changing the Sound type ( depending on were your listening to your music ) i.e. Car , train is also a great idea.
I've just been away for 2 weeks and could play any music for the mood we were in , This has become the next item I carry around after my cell phone...

If you do buy on I'll check out the Creative web site , Full of advise and FQA , you can also post questions and obtain a fast response from them .I also download the latest software ( you obtain a higher Volume ).

Amazon were also very helpfull when purchasing this player. After a very small problem with the Instalation CD , Amazon were fast in correcting the problem for me and could not do enough to assist. I found the player and the retailer number 1.
