The best TV show you didn't watch!5
Excellent!

Have been waiting for this for a long time, while it only took ten years it was as cool to enjoy this first season all over again, brought back so many memories and hasn't faded at all, still seems as relevant today as it did in '95.

I can't compare this to any other show on TV, POF has a unique situation, cast and story I just wish they made TV like this over here, like the other reviewer says: all we get is Hollyoaks (re-affirm my take on life and do a re-run of 'This Life' please - save us from the scourge of reality TV and empty UK soaps!!)

The extras were ok, nothing outstanding, these covering the shows creation and writing etc with a few anecdotes thrown in, a few episodes have actor commentaries from Fox, Wolf and Caharlet, but not very many and Neve Campbell (learned her name is pronounced like 'Kev', something I never knew, always thought it was like the Irish pronunciation) is noticeably missing from the proceedings which is a pity, but then the extras weren't the reason I bought the box set, just to have the first season on DVD and be able to travel back to 1995 and visit the Sallangers any time I wanted was more than enough.

When are we gonna get the rest, please, release season 2 on DVD as well, you can't stop now!!

An Amazing TV Programme5
This is one of my favourite TV programmes of all time: the acting, the storylines - everything was superb about this series. It's great to see Matthew Fox back on our screens in Lost, but I think he had an even greater role in Party of Five. So if you're mad about Matthew Fox, then buy Party of Five to see his acting at its finest!

The good news is that Season Two is getting released on 20/12/05, the bad news is that it's still only available on Region 1 (available to order now on Amazon.com). If you enjoyed Season One, then please buy Season Two as this is the only way they'll release the rest of the seasons.

my girlfriend liked this...4
much like dawsons creek, i was subjected to this series week in week out. this is much better however. the characters do not behave like trained psycho-analysts (dawson) or insipid moaners (joey).
the premise of five family members left to fend for themselves after their parents die means that yes, there are a few tears and the inevitable breaking down but this also manages to find a hard edge to offset the encroaching sickly sweet hugging sessions. in fact, as the series progresses, alcoholism, pregnancy, broken relationships and bitterness set in and this allows for some great acting from all concerned.
it isn't ground-breaking but it sure as hell beats hollyoaks.
somewhere in between as if and my so called life...
