The Ultimate Cheat System!
Datel's Action Replay Max Evo. Edition for the PS2 still remains the No.1 cheat system on the market!
There are loads of new features, some completely new. There are 30,000 cheats and codes all pre-loaded, which include the latest games, as well as the best games!
On the other hand there are a variety of ways to update your codes. You can update via a PS2 broadband internet connection, the USB flash drive, you can even use CDs. Furthermore, you can even use a keyboard, or stick to the old fashioned way using the gamepad.
It's not just for cheating, you can even enjoy 10 hours worth of MP3s via your TV or music system using your PS2. This can be done using the MAX Media Creator PC software which allows you to burn your own Action Replay MAX CD-R's that play on the PS2.
Another new feature is the ability to watch movies on any region using your PS2.
On the other hand another feature is, to play retro classics on your PS2, so just throw away them old megadrives or you may prefer to sell them :)
If you have access to the internet you may visit the official site, and request a code for a game, genius!
Finally, you can store up to 10 times more data on your memory card using the MAX Memory Manager included, no need to extra buy memory cards!
There are many more features such as the brilliant user interface, or the ability to chat online with other action replay owners, like me!
Thats all, i really suggest you buy this cheat system, it beats up the other rivals before the fight has started.
Worst AR product
I've been using AR systems since 4 years ago and I must say this is one of the biggest let down. Just to clarify, I bought this really for the cheats and the editing that I could do on the memory cards. I don't really use the multiregion capabilities or mp3 functions as I have other dvd players/ amps/ etc. which do a better job.
As far as the cheats go, AR have been one of the better ones, coming up with new cheats fast and with more variety. No complaints there. As for the software, it is a let down. Having received it in the post, I bunged it in the ps2 straight away. It was not able to recognise the disk despite several reboots. After many attempts (9-10x), it finally loaded. The memory manager was also quite pathetic as it could not find any files on my memory card (despite all the saved games on it). To try out the software, I then downloaded the newest cheat update file from the internet onto the usb drive and plugged it in.
While trying to uncrush the file onto the memory card, the system hung. I left it idle hoping it was just slow as many who have used it pointed out. I rebooted the system about an hour later having seen no progress. Upon restarting, to my horror, I found that the software had corrupted the memory card AND the usb drive. Both were unreadable (my saved games were all destroyed). I was able to salvage the usb card by manually formating it on my pc but I've got a useless memory card now!
This product seems more like work in progress and should not be on the market until they sort out the issues.
So it doesnt allways run smoothly, but LOOK.
Well this little system boasts alot of features such as being able to play Megadrive roms, muli region capabilities, and so on.. and yes all of these work.. sometimes. So it doesnt allways run smoothly but when it does its a dreamboat of a cheat system, with lots of cool features that if you are the average bloke, you will find outstandigly amazing, "wow i can do stuff with my ps2 on my pc?!?!" Yes.
Well having praised this little disk deck of dreams, there are some things that make me laugh about it. SOMETIMES the megadrive emulator doesnt work, but megadrive roms are now illegal anyway so you shouldnt be trying it! and it runs slow as hell, it does NOT slow the ps2 performance, just the cheat disk loading times etc, its just a bit slow.
The features you get are alot of features, and for 22 pounds i mean come on, why complain, thats just plain selfish. You can store up to 10x space on your memory card, what is the price of 10 memory cards? like 200 pounds? do the maths people, this is value for money at its best. you get a 16mb usb pen to make you feel all geeky and special, and that really is handy transfering saves etc, and the software has no bugs i am aware of (PC software) so its a nice little package, especially for the price.
Get it, even if it had one of its many features it would still be a bargain.
