Product Description

Star Wars Galaxies: Jump To Lightspeed dramatically expands the Star Wars Galaxies franchise by adding a whole new level of twitch-based gameplay to an already deep role-playing game. Jump To Lightspeed allows players to engage in fast-paced, real-time space dogfights against faction-aligned opponents or AI controlled ships while traveling throughout 10 content rich space sectors. When not immersed in action inspired by the classic StarWars trilogy, players build and customize their own ships, including the YT-1300 transports made famous by Han Solo's Millennium Falcon. Star Wars Galaxies: Jump To Lightspeed will also include over 100 new story driven space missions, four new space specific professions and two new completely customizable species.

Manufacturer's Description
The struggle between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance extends into space with Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed, the first expansion for the award-winning Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing game set in the Star Wars universe. This addition dramatically expands the Star Wars Galaxies franchise by providing players more than 15 different vehicles for space exploration and combat.

Starfighters and other starships in the expansion can be used for both space exploration and combat, allowing players to join up with allies and fly familiar X-wings and TIE fighters into battle against faction-aligned opponents and AI-controlled ships. Transport ships similar to the well-known Millennium Falcon are included, allowing players to venture through space with friends aboard.

Set in the Star Wars timeframe between Episode IV and Episode V, this first extension to the Star Wars Galaxies foundation opens 10 vast and distinct space sectors, spanning from the Core Worlds to the Outer Rim, for players to explore while engaging their opponents in intense real-time combat or uniting with friends in battle or exploration. Players can embark on more than 100 new missions, venturing through asteroid fields, nebulae and space junkyards while honing skills in four new space-specific professions. The game also features two new and completely customisable species.

Since its launch in June 2003, Star Wars Galaxies has allowed players to live the Star Wars saga and become immersed in the classic Star Wars universe simultaneously. Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed continues the full immersion in the greatest Star Wars saga ever told: yours.

Customer Reviews

Ignore the naysayer5
The two negative reviews below (obviously written by the same person) are ridiculous - Star Wars Galaxies has matured amazingly in the past year, and it's now an absolute treat. As with all MMORPGs, things are constantly being fixed and tweaked; this is simply part of the genre, and there are no doubt a few bugs still waiting to be found - with hundreds of thousands of players all doing their own thing, it's hardly surprising that untried possibilities still occur on a daily basis. However, the game is now incredibly stable and in great shape. Yes, there are a few Jedi around at a time when they were supposed to be extinct...but OF COURSE players want to be a Jedi in a Star Wars game! The developers are only giving us what we want, and to be fair it is an EXTREMELY difficult and lengthy process to become a Jedi, which keeps the numbers down to a mere handful. In short, you'll have hours and hours of fun adventuring in the Star Wars Universe...the only 'problem' is how addictive it gets. And, with this expansion pack, its going to get even better. Lucasarts are producing an arcade-flavoured space shooter to perfectly recreate the quintessential Star Wars dogfights; the game has been designed to be easy to handle, fast-paced and spectacular to behold - believe me, the graphics are incredible; check out an online video preview to see for yourself. Players will be able to own their own starships, become a pilot or an engineer, plus there are bonuses for the ground-based game as well: two new planets and two new character species. I've already signed up for the beta tests, and I absolutely can't wait. It's really the next best thing to appearing in the films.

Totally absorbing5
It's correct to say leave plenty of time for SWG. Its graphics and gameplay are totally absorbing. Your character's capabilities will be entirely dependent upon how much effort you put in. If you like mission-based games, there are features here to satisfy, however, the point of this game is that it is totally non-linear; you really can do what you want, when you want to.
You'll note that pretty much all reviewers here have played the game since launch (and still appear to be doing so). Let that be your guide - there are frustrations in Real-Life too!
Based more on reflexes than the ground-game, JTL should be the icing on the cake. If it was only half as good as SWG, I wouldn't hesitate to buy.
Just take care to remember who is the REAL you...

great game4
swg is a great game, but only if you hav the time/ effort to put into it. over the summer i have been trying to get jedi and found it very fun trying to. Im almost there and no other game can beat the feeling you get when you master a new proffession and its time to see if its the jedi one you need... excellent game no doubt but AVOID if you are not patient cos a lot of time has to go in this.. but with JTLS it will be more action based so you should enjoy yourself.
