Does exactly what it says on the box - and does it well!5
I've been using my inMotion for a good year now and its interesting to read adamtheyumuck's review. Sure, if you pump the volume up to maximum it distorts (like any other audio system) - so don't turn it up to full! For what it is intended for the volume and sound quality is outstanding.

The batteries don't last for ever but the battery life is very reasonable considering the power draw of speaker systems generally, and if you have a system such as the iStation with a subwoofer, you can wave goodbye to a large collection of batteries very quickly!

The bass on the inMotion is actually very strong considering the size of the speaker cones and the carry case is fantastic for avoiding nasty scratches on the unit when you throw it in your bag. I'd definitely recommend this product over the likes of iStation (build quality and bettery life not very good) and JBL (not truly portable as mains powered only). (and yes, I've used both of the above!).

The only alternative I'd consider to this would be the IM3 if you want a remote control or the Bose Sound-dock if you've got that much money!!!

One final note - this product is officially approved by Apple.

    Looks arent everything!3
Well i purchased mine in an airport and it was 10 pounds cheaper than anywhere else so i got it! But looking back it seems very expensive for such a tiny unit. Altec lansing are just another company trying to feed off some of the wealth that apple has created for the ipod. The sound quality is very good up to a certain volume, but after that it starts to crackle! It folds away nicely and the case that you are given with it is about as useless as a tesco carrier bag!It eats batteries no sooner than when you have put them in which defeats the entire object of having a portable speaker system!BUT IT LOOKS GOOD, the logic 3 istation is cheaper and doesnt looks as good but the price does! Oh and it doesnt match u2 ipods at all! IT LOOKS CLUMSY AND HIDEOUS! But it did the job for me on holiday! I am now going to buy the logic 3 istation! Oh and this is last years model!
