Product Description

Worms 4: Mayhem is returns to the series' roots, and our brave invertebrates are back to knock ten shades of hell out of each other in open arenas.

With players controlling the worms in single player or 4-player team games, everyone's armed with a massive variety of wild weapons, as ingenious as they are incendiary.

And for the first time in any Worms game, you can let your imagination run riot and create your own weapons! Using a genius device, called Weapons Factory, you'll be able to create your own weapon and enjoy the freedom to annihilate your opponents in your own unique way. You want to make Exploding Chickens or Toilet Bombs? You got it.

The worms' armoury of brilliantly conceived classic weapons return and is built on with even more devilish devices. Plus, prepare to cause chaos and humiliate your enemy with a host of new weapons that create new strategies and gameplay possibilities including the Poison Arrow, Sentry Gun, Tail Nail and the Bovine Blitz, which unleashes a bombing raid of cows.

The customisation options don't stop at crafting new weapons. Another first is the ability to customise your worms, choosing their hair, hands, faces, glasses and dying words--all with Worms trademark humour.

The multiplayer mayhem and single-player shenanigans are spread over five themed zones--Jurassic, Camelot, Arabian, Construction and Wild West--and, throughout the enlarged landscapes, the entirely destructible scenery is back with even greater effect.

In single-player modes there's even more beyond the day-to-day business of destroying worms. Through the 25 missions, you're also charged with objectives such as recovering items or smashing scenery. All the single-player maps are available to play in multiplayer mode, along with a further set of 20 multiplayer-specific maps.

With bold levels, an improved 3D camera and animation system, a stunning arsenal delivering comedy kabooms, the loveable, customisable, yet entirely destructible, worms are back in force.

Worms goes back to 2D fun5
Wow! I've been a worms fan since the Amiga days. Then Worms 3D ruined it a bit for me and didn't go into the 3D very well.

But this new worms games its hilarious fun. I've spent hours online since i've unlocked the new weapons and customised my worm with rainbow sunglasses. Some of the new weapons include Fatkins which is a bombing run with a fat guy :)

Graphics are excellent and have gone back to the older worms style. The sounds are humourous as are the new animations the worms do! Very funny.

A 1st Class Game!5
I've been playing Worms since it was first released in 1995, and I still love it! This is a welcome addition to the Worms series, particularly the capability (at last) to create your own weapons! Would recommend this to anyone, I'm even teaching my little brother to play it, and he loves it as well!

For those of you wondering what the system requirements are, here they are:

Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP
Pentium III or Athlon at 1Ghz (although I've had this running on far lower spec computers, ie Celeron 733Mhz)
256MB RAM
2.4GB hard-drive space
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon 7200 or later / nVidia GeForce 2 MX or later (I use a 32MB AGP 4x GeForce 2 MX400 and it works perfectly)
Multiplayer: 512kbps Broadband connection recommended for game hosting

Note: Laptop users should be careful as their graphics/sound chip may or may not be supported.

a round of applause for the latest and greatest...5
the newest instalment in the worms series is by far the best yet. the gameplay is simple, uncomplicated, and the graphics are gorgeous. you even have a weapon and team design function, which adds a whole new depth to the game
this game is outstanding at parties, and the charming worms are as always excellent in story and multiplayer modes. the weapons also make the game interesting, but the game fails slightly here; there are not a huge amount of new weapons, and a frustrating "style" selection formula prevents you from using some of them. still though, the sheep, granny, holy hand grenade and bazooka are always there for the nostalgic players, and the inflatable scouser always makes for an interesting game.

and thus we come to, the verdict:
the good: graphics, gameplay, story mode, multiplayer gaming, weapon and team design functions, and overall beauty.
the bad: alas, there is a minor flaw as mentioned above with the style selection, but nothing otherwise.

an excellent, easy, undemanding yet challenging game, great for parties and people of all ages(despite what other reviewers say). a must for followers of the series, and for those looking for some decent gaming fun.
