You can barely move for racing games on the PSP, which wouldn’t normally be a problem except almost all of them are excellent. It’s not a launch title, but Burnout Legends is looking like being an obvious must-have for anyone who’s ever wanted to be a dangerous driver but been held back by a social conscience.

Relatively little has been seen of the game so far, bar a short playable demo which demonstrated a highly impressive level of graphic detail that makes it look just like Burnout 3: Takedown. In fact, the game will, rather like Ridge Racer, be a sort of "best of" compilation of features from all the previous Burnout games, including tracks from Burnout 1, 2 and 3.

A total of nine gameplay modes are promised, including the infamous Crash, Pursuit, Burning Lap, Road Rage, Eliminator, Race, Time Attack, Legends Face-Off and Legends GP. Four of these (Race, Crash, Pursuit and Road Rage) can be played in wireless multiplayer mode with up to four people. One other interesting element is that each game will ship with five cars out of a random selection of twenty-five -- with the other twenty only being unlocked as you play opponents in multiplayer.

To be honest, a port of one of the previous games would have been fine for most people, but this looks like being a lot more than just that. -- Harrison Dent

Great conversion4
This is a great conversion of the popular series. You can expect to see tracks and cars from Burnout, Burnout 2 and last years Burnout 3. There are some problems; the smaller screen and resolution causes occasional issues when spotting on-coming obstacles. The game can also lock-up momentarily when skipping to the next music track (which unfortunately is cut from the same crass rock "EA Trax" style as Burnout 3 and other EA titles - just turn down the music volume). There's some clipping of textures and a little bit of slow down here and there during some replays and takedowns, and the detail level is slightly less - obviously. The graphics seem ever so slightly duller, but perhaps the developer decided to change the games colour palate as it has perhaps a more 'realistic' look than say, Burnout 3. Last but not least, some of the loading breaks can irritate - already a minor issue on the home consoles especially when re-starting an event- but its made worse by the PSPs loading issues. Still it's not as bad as some of the first generation of PSP games in this respect.

Despite all of that the plus points far weigh out the negative. The game zips along, all the features of its bigger brothers are here (it even includes "Pursuit" mode that didn't make Burnout 3). The game is as thoroughly playable and addictive as ever. The driving style had been distilled, refined and perfected by Burnout 3 and has been perfectly replicated here on the PSP. It looks amazing given this is a almost a perfect copy of a recent home console game and its running in the palm of your hand. With hundreds of separate challenges and events and enormous replay value this has to be in the top five 'must haves' for the PSP. Thoroughly recommended (just turn down the awful, awful music!).

Whoosh!4
Burnout Legends, Hmmm.... I'll explain this game to you in one word, Well you can't because it's such an awesome game, But I will, it's ...... BRILLIANT!! Feel the speed in the palm of your hand, Takedown the other cars to knock them off the road,
Drifts, Takedowns, All earn you nitrous which send you to unbelievable speeds!

If you love all the burnout games, Which I do too, This is a must - have for you!!!
I mean, you really gotta get this game, The game has AMAZING graphics, You can even see the sparks coming off the car when you're grinding!! IT'S UNBELIEVABLE! Please take my advice, GET IT!

Please rate my reviews, PLEASE? I will be very thankful that you did and will know that you took the time to read my review. And as always I will leave with a farewell comment:

That's all folks!

Triple Takedown!!5
I waited for the release of BL for a long time,it was one of the main reasons i decided to buy my PSP,so on launch day (today) i went to my local store and bought myself a copy.
And i can honestly say that it didn't dissapoint.
The intro and menu are similar to last years Burnout 3:Takedown and the usual selection of cars, from the weedy compact class to the sports and super classes. So all of you that used the Super Assassin will be pleased to see their baby included in this version. As soon as the game loads (some of the fasted loading screens on the PSP) it is clear that this is special.
The frame-rate and sense of speed is unreal,so those that were dissapointed with MC3 Dub Edition will breath a sigh of relief.
Overall the game is basically Burnout 3 with bits from the first 2 games mixed in,and it's awesome!!
