For the price, this is a very good piece of kit4
I bought the 1 Gb Sansa, for one of the family, and I was impressed with the Sansa player's capabilities. When the price of the 2Gb Sansa dropped recently, I immediately bought it for myself. Just ensure that when you go to Settings on the Sansa's screen, that you choose USB and then Auto Detect(MTP) so that it downloads and plays in Track order. I loaded 14 CD's from my hard drive into the Sansa, in the time it takes to make a couple of pots of tea, and I sat back to drink while the speedy download took place. There is still a full 1 Gb free to download more CDs. For the price, this is a very good piece of kit, especially now it is even cheaper. Another bit of advice when choosing a particular album to listen to on the Sansa, is to choose 'Play Music,' then choose 'Album,' then choose 'Title,' then choose 'Play all,' and then it plays in track order. This might seem long-winded, but it does what you want.

at last, something that will do the job!5
After months of trawling through web sites, reviews etc. and despairing of ever finding enough info. to make a sensible choice for my particular needs, I decided on the m250 in spite of mixed user reviews. At the price it didn't really matter if it wouldn't work.
It arrived this am. at 11.30 and by midday I'd put the battery in, switched it on, plugged it into the computer and downloaded, via WMA and without any trouble at all, a Neil Diamond CD and 8 CDs (160 tracks) of a book to see if my choice was a good one. Good; it was inspired. This little machine is amazing. Easy to use, reasonably easy to navigate, even for a 'techie-twit' like me who does not do 'complicated', and the most wonderful thing of all, IT SWITCHES BACK ON IN EXACTLY THE SAME PLACE AS IT HAD REACHED WHEN SWITCHED OFF with only 1 button to press.
This is of huge importance as my husband is partially sighted and can no longer read even large print. Over the years we have accumulated many books on CD. Fiddling about with a portable CD player at home is fine, but becomes a problem when on holiday. Nobody wants to cart a CD player and 30+ CDs around with them, particularly with the airport carry on luggage situation being what it is. A simple basic MP3 player was required and at last I've found it. I can load enough spoken word books on it to last him at least a month, it takes up no room and weighs no more than a packet of cigs. Wonderful; hooray for Sansa.
The sound on music and speech with the supplied earphones is fine, much better than that achieved on my comparatively expensive touch screen job where I had to upgrade the ears.
Don't know about battery life yet; but it's no hardship to put a few heavy duty AAAs in ones bag. I am more than happy - so much so I'm about to order another one. From my experience I can recommend this player without any reservation. It's great!!!!
For what it's worth and in case it helps those having difficulty getting the computer to recognise the player and/or download stuff, don't forget to turn the m250 ON before you plug it into the comp. Unless it's a problem with the firmware, most of the players that have AA or AAA batteries require their own power to do anything at all and also remember to make sure there is ample battery power left in the battery when deleting or syncing tracks, or you'll end up with a horrible mess. In the course of a few very frustrating hours, I found this out the hard way when trying to get my original old MP3 player to come to life and behave properly. Since then I've made a habit of downloading the PDF user manual from the manufacturers website (if you can find it) on any possible purchases. I can then study it at my leisure to see if it will do what I require it for.
My thanks to Sansa for producing the answer to my prayers, and to Amazon for dealing with the order so efficiently. All this for under 20 quid inc. postage. I'm a very happy bunny.............

    An okay product4
Not a bad product - PC recognised it straight away and was able to transfer music in minutes.

Build quality is reasonable - constructed out of plastic, so only time will tell if holds up to knocks and scrapes.

Good sound quality with either built in EQ presets or an option to have a custom one (5 band EQ)

    Copying to the device:

You need to drop files into the media folder though, yet there is nothing in the instructions to say this!
also able to store normal data as well (by putting it into the data folder). Seems obvious, but for those with not alot of techno know how, this could cause a few issues!

Lastly, the unit doesn't come with an FM radio as described! The radio is only for the US version, so keep that in mind before ordering.
