Manufacturer's Description
Based on Walt Disney Pictures' blockbuster film, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow features a blend of fast-paced action and adventure that captures the entertaining characters, settings, and spirit of the film.
Piracy, smuggling, buried treasure (not to mention sword fighting, and pilfering)...what's not to love about Captain Jack Sparrow? With his cocky swagger and offbeat personality, Jack Sparrow is the ultimate video game character; and players can experience his adventures first hand in this exciting action game.
Gamers can slash and hack their way through a dozen locations, with fully interactive environments and varied gameplay. Action will take place in a variety of lush, immersive settings, including burning buildings, wrecked ships, and misty moonlit caves.
The gameplay experience is thoroughly engrossing, as one minute you are fighting hordes of your enemies, while the next you're evading capture by the Royal Navy. You learn new moves and combos as the game progresses, allowing even more spectacular and deadly attacks during combat.
Customer Reviews
Thank god I only rented this!
I am getting so angry at video games being rushed out to cash in on succcessful movies! This game is a prime example - The entire budget appears to have been spent on using Johnny Depps voice, with nothing left to use for gameplay or graphics!
The gameplay is dull and repetitive, with poorly designed characters and clumsy controls. You play as Jack or Will mainly, and once the fun of controlling Jack Sparrow wears off, you are left with a tedious round of cut scene, quick fight, cut scene. Seriously dull, and the cut scenes provide little humour or interest. This game is an embarrasment to the PS2 and looks and sounds like something thrashed out 10 years ago on the PS1.
Not Great
I love the pirate of the caribbean films, so i couldnt wait to buy this game. Let me tell you that the game's graphics are awful, through the game it becomes quite tedious. If you are buying mainly for the two player, dont bother, you both have to run everywhere together and you cant go anywhere. I think the game was rushed for the film release. Shame as it could have been so good with more time spent on it.
Glitched but is just enjoyable enough for you to play past it *MINOR SPOILERS*
I want to make it perfectly clear that this game sets up for a sequel, possibly to be released around the time the next film is. And I cannot wait, as this was a worthy game, yet there are a few minor problems which could discourage a couple of you. One is the utter frustration which is engendered by a) no checkpoints, so long levels become almost too tedious and b) the fact that the camera seems unable to move with the characters on 2-player. However, these problems should be cleared up by the next game, but for now, we shall consentrate on this game. It is fun one or two player, more fun two player, but then again, what isn't more fun when playing with friends? It ranges far across the settings from the first film, in addition to some other adventures from Jack Sparrow's imagination. Finally we are able to fight as Jack in the first film, the greatest joy being when *SPOILER ALERT* you become undead jack in the penultimate level. An award system which is unrewarding in its finality (don't bother seeking out the map pieces) and an excellent upgrade system (After reading this, you won't be able to wait until you've unlocked the powerful and frankly hilarious flying kick) add up to make a hugely enjoyable game that works its way past the developers glaring mistakes and only adds hilarity from the bad voice acting (don't be enticed by the johnny depp vioce credit, he all but says the words "contractual obligation") All in all, the game is excellant, just don't expect the best game you've ever played. Oh, and elizabeth look like someone took keira knightley's face and blended it.
