Synopsis
Russell Mulcahy's original saga of immortal Scotsman Connor Macleod, one of a race of immortals who can only be killed when beheaded with a sword. After living in peace for four centuries, he is challenged by an old enemy named Kurgan. During a fierce sword battle in the 1500s, Connor MacLeod, a simple Scotsman known as a poor fighter, is mortally wounded -- but he does not die. MacLeod learns from the mysterious Ramirez that he is of a race of immortals. These rare knights never age and never reproduce, they can only meet death by the blade of another of their kind. Leaping back and forth through the centuries, MacLeod once again meets the evil Kurgan who nearly killed him 500 years ago.

A classic movie
Highlander is a classic tale of an ordinary Highland warrior with superhuman powers who gets caught up in a supernatural battle spanning centuries.
The Kurgan is a great villain and Sean Connery also puts in a fine performance (ironically not as a Scotsman, but as a swashbuckling Spaniard).
Set in rural Scotland and modern day New York, Highlander is just great science fiction. Sadly, the follow ups didn't quite match the high standards of this original.
The film also has great musical moments from Queen.
Best Baddie Of All Time
I know this film does suffer from age a little but please..... I do think that Kurgon is still one of the best and most underrated bad-guys in movie history.
The scene with the nuns is still up there as one of the best bad-guy moments in movie history, along with the be-spectacled Nazi from Raiders Of The Lost Ark.
The film is SOOOOO worth the small sum for the great Queen tracks and for Kurgon.
Highlander I'm Conner Mac Cloud of the Clan Mac Cloud
HIGHLANDER
Highlander a unique film . A Highland warrior Connor Mac Cloud of the Clan Mac Cloud who cannot die. Highly evocative the Scottish scenes. Of camaraderie before going into battle, and the ironic cold banishment of Connor by his same kinsmen; after being mortally wounded in battle. Who cannot believe Connor surviving the wound. A Clansman saves him from a brutal beating, "Can you walk Connor". - "Aye I can bloody well walk out of here!-I will not forget thee", Connor utters to Angus, as he saves him from being burned. Then into modern day conflict battles, but now one on one till the end can only be one.
Inside this film is a gem! I wonder if the writer or the director at the time new; they would be creating a scene so powerful - and moving. That even Stanley Kubic and Shakespeare could not have bettered . A scene so moving that will probably never be surpassed. Of Conner's and Heather's love and farewell in death to heather his blossom. Conner's call to heather - their life and love together, then near her death. Words that are spoken poignant and deeply moving. The scene starts to the unique vocal range of Freddie Mercury and the queen track "who wants to live forever". Penned by Brian May after seeing a rough cut of the film. If you not moved by this then your heart is of granite.
What a film - makes me want to buy a great Claymore Sword and swing it about.
