Editorial Reviews

Synopsis
Based on the popular video game, DOA – Dead or Alive finds three high-kicking females competing in a martial arts tournament on a secluded island. The women include wrestler Tina Armstrong (Jaime Pressley, My Name is Earl), jewel thief Christie Allen (Holly Valance, Neighbours), and Japanese princess Kasumi (Devon Aoki, Sin City). Although initially rivals, the trio are forced to work together in order to defeat a malevolent force. Master action film director Corey Yuen (The Transporter) injects a huge amount of flair and energy into the film, the plot of which predominantly consists of scantily clad women engaged in fights. WWE wrestler Kevin Nash (aka Diesel) makes a notable appearance as Tina's father, who also competes in the tournament.

Harmless Popcorn Fun.3
Okay DOA is no masterpiece of Cinema but as far as brainless action flicks go DOA does it's job well and is an entertaining 90 minutes of brainless action and humor.

Bottom line is if you are able to sit back and enjoy a movie that is not meant to be taken seriously then you could do far worse then DOA.

Rating: 3.5/5

more than worth a purchase4
5 reasons why you should buy this film:

* its got holly valance in it
* its action packed (the martial arts part kinda gives that away...)
* its actually pretty funny
* they base it very well on the game (volleyball and all) i was pleasently surprised
* you're reading the reviews on this page - come on, you're obviously interested ;-)

honest opinion it really is worth a watch if you like the game, like martial arts, or find holly valance to be rather damn hott. or perhaps, like me, all 3 :-D

Never has to fight for attention. . . 5
I've never heard of the video game and merely happened across this movie because it starred Holly Valance and Jamie Presley and I was very curious to see what it was all about. I have to say, I am extreemely happy that I took the time to check it out. From beginning to end this movie never has to fight for your attention - it simply commands it. It is true action/entertainment in its purest form and if that's what you're looking for then D.O.A. easily blows Charlie's Angels and Tomb Raider right out of the water !
