Lego continue to celebrate Star Wars' 30th anniversary with another exclusive kit - the Republic Cruiser, seen in the opening moments of The Phantom Menace.
The kit is an accurate representation of the ship, especially with colour and all the detailing across the hull. The kit comprises 890 pieces, not including figures and weapons, and takes about 90 minutes to build.
The ship has many features and is a great vessel for both display and play.
The cockpit cover hinges open with room for the pilot. The entire front of the ship slides forwards in order to release the massive escape pod from underneath the forward hull. The pod seperates into two pieces and can seat two minifigures.
There are 4 moveable landing struts that can be deployed for landing and folded up for flight. There is a mechanism that allows you to to turn the radar and communications cluster on the aft hull from underneath.
The main body has a host of features. Each side has a slide mechanism that deploys laser cannons that push through the vents on each compartment at the front. The whole mid-section upper hull lifts off to give access to the inside. The port side has a storage compartment for the weapons crate which houses 2 of the new blaster rifles and a pair of electrobinoculars. Next to it is a small skiff which can be piloted by the Captain. On the starboard side you have a small droid compartment and a control station for the Captain.
You get 5 exclusive figures with this kit; Republic Captain, R2-R7, Republic Pilot, Qui-Gon Jinn (Naboo) with green lightsabre and Obi-Wan Kenobi (Naboo) with a blue lightsabre.
A great kit and a cool looking spaceship, the Republic Cruiser is a must for any Star Wars collection.
