DVD Description
Terry Nation’s drama series Survivors, broadcast by the BBC between 1975 to 1977, was one of the most popular series of the decade. Set in a post-apocalyptic, present day world ravaged by a devastating plague, Survivors explored how humanity would cope in a world stripped of modern technology and comforts.

The disease struck quickly and with devastating effect – a global plague that, in Britain, spares just a few thousand people. This is the chilling story of some of those who survive — Jenny, Greg, Abby and others — determined to construct a new community from the surrounding wasteland where the technology and skills of the old life have become obsolete.

Featuring all three series of the classic drama, this collection tells the full Survivors story, from the outbreak of the pandemic to foundation of the settlements to the rebirth of society.

Synopsis
A conical flask smashes in a laboratory and a deadly virus escapes into the atmosphere. A number of survivors, seemingly immune to the disease, search each other out. Complete episodes from series one, two and three - the complete saga.

Fantastic series!5
I waited years for it to come out on DVD and wasnt dissapointed one bit ,as already said its more relevant now than then ,havent seen the latest version yet and will withhold my opinion until I watch it,another series in a similar vein is "Day of the trifids "which I found enthralling.

Best Ever BBC Production5
At it's best, Survivors 1975 - 77 is the most realistic series the BBC has ever made - dumping the incidental music & replacing it with the natural sounds of birdsong etc was probably an economy measure - but it was a very good move.
At it's worst, probably "The Witch" & "The Peacemaker" episodes are still more entertaining & thought provoking than most modern TV.
The acting is natural & far from perfect, but even more realistic because of it - the diction is very good. Special mentions go to Lucy Fleming, Carolyn Seymour, Denis Lil & Ian McCulloch, also the late Celia Gregory.
Please buy & enjoy, then use what influence you can muster - to persuade modern Broadcasters to produce material of this quality.
The only thing lacking in Survivors is the technical 16/9 clarity that a modern production can bring.

Fantastic, Chilling Cult Classic5
Ignore the rubbish farcially 'PC' tick-box approach new 'remake', the original 70's series is superior in every way possible. A truly chilling concept, excellentlyhandled, with fascinating characters and gripping drama - this is cult sci-fi at it's very best. The new version is an insult. Avoid that and buy this now! Highly recommended.
