The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year Edition presents one of the best RPGs of all time like never before. Step inside the most richly detailed and vibrant game-world ever created. With a powerful combination of freeform gameplay and unprecedented graphics, you can unravel the main quest at your own pace or explore the vast world and find your own challenges.
Also included in the Game of the Year Edition are Knights of the Nine and the Shivering Isles expansion, adding new and unique quests and content to the already massive world of Oblivion. See why critics called Oblivion the Best Game of 2006.
- Live Another Life in Another World - Create and play any character you can imagine, from the noble warrior to the sinister assassin to the wizened sorcerer.
- First Person Melee and Magic - An all-new combat and magic system brings first person role-playing to a new level of intensity where you feel every blow.
- Radiant AI - This groundbreaking AI system gives Oblivion's characters full 24/7 schedules and the ability to make their own choices based on the world around them. Non-player characters eat, sleep, and complete goals all on their own.
- New Lands to Explore - In the Shivering Isles expansion, see a world created in Sheogorath's own image, one divided between Mania and Dementia and unlike anything you've experienced in Oblivion.
- Challenging New Foes - Battle the denizens of Shivering Isles, a land filled with hideous insects, Flesh Atronachs, skeletal Shambles, amphibeous Grummites, and many more.
- Begin a New Faction - The Knights of the Nine have long been disbanded. Reclaim their former glory as you traverse the far reaches of Cyrodill across an epic quest line.

The game that convinced me that RPG's aren't sleep inducing
This is easily one of the best games I have ever played. I wouldn't normally touch this sort of game with a partically long pole, but decided to give it a chance. It gets the balance between action and role-playing just right. Once you get your head around the slightly complexed leveling up system (best learnt by jumping into the game and working it out as you go along, It'll all suddenly seem so clear)you'll be hooked. Unlike World Of Warcraft it doesn't take 50 hours to get to the point when you finally feel upto taking on that deadly mudcrab. There is a remarkable amount of quests and side quests & the Game of The Year Edition includes the Shivering Isles expansion which has around 15 hours worth of extra gameplay. Overall I must have spent upto 200 hrs playing this game and there's still stuff I haven't seen yet. Also the different characters you can create genuinely give a completely different way of playing the game. If you play through the game as a warrior say, then the next time as a stealthy assassin the game has a completely different feel to it. As you've probably guessed this isn't the sort of game you rent for the weekend. Prepare to have your life hijacked!
P.S. This game includes no beards. Well only one... but that's ok. He's a mad god. He's allowed.
My favourite PS3 game by far.
This without a doubt is one of the best games, i have ever played , there is so so much to do in it. There are 5 guilds if i remember right and there are about ten missions in each guild along with the main quest that runs along side. there are also many little quests that can be done just by talking to random npc's and this earns gold.
The world itself is massive and would probably take about half an hour to get from one side of the map to another, meaning it is a good thing that there is an instant travel option for an icons on the map that previously been visited.
The leveling system is about the only thing i don't like about this game having main skills which actually increase your level and the rest just increase skills within that defined area. This being the game of the year addition it contains the expansion packs ( knights of the nine and the shivering isles) , the knights of the nine is just a series of short quests in search of a secret type of armor, but the shivering isles is bascially another game taking you into the world of sheogorath the mad ruler and you become his errand boy to save either the world of dementia or mania.
Overall i would recommend this to anybody who enjoys an rpg and want value for money in the game , i got roughly 85 hours out of before it started to wear a bit thin on me.
A game which has really made an effort!
I got this game at christmas and haven't stopped playing it since! I think there's quite a few things which make the game so unique and great!
First of all simple stuff, the graphics. They're very impressive, and you've got to remember this game was first released a few years ago. If you're walking at night on the game, just look up at the sky and that is an example of the quality of the graphics.
Next Gameplay, there are very few games where you can simply say to yourself, "I don't fancy doing the main quest, I think i'll just do a random quest or join a guild, or just battle some creatures in a cave, or just simply explore!" The amount of gameplay avaliable is very impressive
Another thing which i think makes the game great is that every building there is in the game you can go into or break into, I think that makes the game very good.
Overall this games got a lot in it and i would definitley say that it is one the best games i've played, i really get the impression that the game has been made with a lot of hard work, and if you don't believe me there is a reason why it is playstation platinum!
