Editorial Reviews
Amazon.co.uk Review
The most viscerally frightening and disturbing homicidal maniac picture since The Silence of the Lambs, Seven is based on an idea that's both gruesome and ingenious. A serial killer forces each of his victims to die by acting out one of the seven deadly sins. The murder scene is then artfully arranged into a grotesque tableau, a graphic illustration of each mortal vice. From the jittery opening credits to the horrifying (and seemingly inescapable) concluding twist, director David Fincher immerses us in a murky urban twilight where everything seems to be rotting, rusting, or molding. The air is cold and heavy with dread. Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt are the detectives who skillfully track down the killer, all the while unaware that he has been closing in on them, as well. Gwyneth Paltrow and Kevin Spacey are also featured, but it is director Fincher and the ominous, overwhelmingly oppressive atmosphere of doom that he creates that are the real stars of the film. It's a terrific date movie, for vampires. --Jim Emerson

Awesome
This film is original, playing along the idea of the seven deadly sins this film has truly spectacular and even unforeseen moments.
As someone who personally despises horror films I found this to be a triumph of film-making. With some truly spectacular acting especially from the ever reliable Morgan Freeman. This has to be one of the best thrillers I have seen in a long time, with a twist at every possible moment.
Some of the scenes are more than gruesome and totally spectacular in a sick way.
WOW
This is definitely one of the most amazing films i have seen
It features brilliant acting, directing and writing and has one of the greatest movie twists of a recent movie. It is also very scary towards the end, and in particular one scene involving the 'sloth' death. All in all, a fantastic film. Very, very good.
Brad spoils the broth!
I really rate this film,it's actually brilliant.
One thing spoils it for me,Mr Brad Pitt.
For one thing,I could hardly hear a single word the man spoke throughout the film,it was just a series of mumbles.
Also,I have to say,his acting is slightly wooden, especially when you put him next to someone like Morgan Freeman for goodness sake.
I mean what were they thinking?
If I had been Brad Pitt,I would have felt embarassed even being chosen to star alongside him,let alone being his sidekick in the movie.
Everytime I watch it,I feel sad thinking someone of a much higher standard could have been in Pitt's place, someone who could have complemented Freeman's character.
Thank god for Morgan Freeman, that's all I can say.
