DVD Description
Dean and Sam Winchester are two brothers with a special talent. Well-versed in the supernatural after their father became convinced that their mother was captured by unholy spirits, Dean and Sam dedicated their young lives to hunting down these otherworldly terrors. But adulthood saw Sam drift away from these preternatural activities, instead choosing to settle down in a life of domestic bliss with his girlfriend. But when the Winchesters' dad goes missing, both Dean and Sam know what they have to do, leading to some epic cross-country trips as the brothers try to find their father. This release includes the complete fourth series.

From strength to strength for the Winchester boys
The fourth season of Supernatural provides a great mixture of scares, action and humour effortlessly delivered from it's leads.

Picking up a few months after the end of season 3, Dean wakes up six feet under with no clue how he got there and a strange marking upon his body, Dean reunites with the now reclusive Sam whose developed some extra curricular activities with Ruby since his brother's been gone. They hit the road with a new 'divine' mission to prevent the breaking of 66 seals to release Lucifer himself.

The fair majority of the character development revolves around Dean this season, a refreshing change, as he has been somewhat overshadowed by the recurring story arc of Sam's special powers at times. Ackles give a powerful performance as Dean guilt stricken by his experiences from hell and increasingly worried about his brother.

Padalecki gives a strong showing as Sam, the character is much darker than before and it becomes increasingly clear Dean's absence has had a profound effect on him. Padalecki plays the darker side of Sam well as the season progresses we see his descent into deeper and deeper into darkness and further away from his brother.

The two still retain their on screen chemistry that makes them such a likeable pair, be it humorously bickering, standing side by side or becoming more and more confrontational, the two play off each other very well; as always.

The season offers a variety of great episodes from the absolutely hilarious, like Yellow Fever, creepy old school horror, like Family Remains, to the continuing story arc in Lucifer rising. The episodes play off each other well with more comedic offset by the continuing story or a creepy episode.

Stand out episodes include In the Beginning, Heaven and hell, After school special, On the head of a pin, The monster at the end of this book, Jump the shark and Lucifer rising. From suicidal teddy bears to unknown family ties this season has it all.

Season 4 proves to be a yet another great season, with great performances from both leads, varied and well written stories, impressive direction and a killer cliffhanger for the 5th (and very possibly final) season. Supernatural remains compulsive viewing.

Great series. Terrible box set
I love Supernatural and season 4 was the best yet. So when the date for the complete season 4 release was announced, I waited patiently for my DVD to come. I was disappointed to find that not only did the episodes not match the DVD jackets, but that my much loved (and advertised on the case) gag reel and other specail features were missing. This box set is just Volume 1 and 2 repackaged. If I had wanted volumes 1 and 2, I would have bought them. It is a pity that people who have waited to buy the complete set have been let down like this.

Can it get ANY better???
I was hooked right from the first episode and have not missed a single one. I feel bereft when it finishes and can't wait for the next series to start.Luckily, I now have the box set 1-3 so can satisfy my urge for a bit of Dean whenever i wish..Phwoar!!!!!! . My 15yr old son has now become as addicted as i am and we both think the casting of Misha Collins was a gift from heaven (yes, that pun was intended!!) The humour that has gradually increased is wonderful and you can just tell that the guys LOVE playing their respective rolls, I've lost count how many times I've watched Deans rendition of 'eye of the tiger' on youtube (a must if you've not seen it!!)
I am constantly checking to see if ITV have commissioned the next series and have threatened to move to the USA if they don't...obsessed...who's obsessed. I just know what i love and this is one of those very rare series that has just gone from strength to strength. Every credit must go to Eric Kripke and he should be honoured for his massive achievement and contribution to world television....also a big thankyou for introducing the wonderful Jensen and Jared to the worldwide audience, it has been brilliant watch them 'grow up' on the screen.
I have read that series 5 will probably be the last but even if it is then I feel that this siis the type of series that will go down in history as one of the best and become a true classic..almost as classic as the impala!!!
So, to sum up...it's BRILLIANT, GREAT, SEXY, FUNNY, CHILLING and TOTALLY COMPELLING!!!
I will keep watching over and over and over..
