	Farscape - The Complete Season 3 [DVD] [1999] Buy new: £17.98 / Used from: £49.99 Top-notch writing and directing, stunning effects and a superb cast breathing life into wonderful characters. The finest, most consistent season of sf ever made.
	Firefly - The Complete Series [DVD] [2003] Buy new: £12.48 / Used from: £11.49 The only pretender to Farscape's crown, criminally cut down before it had a chance. Dramatic, exciting and funny. Not to be missed.
	Farscape 4.3 [DVD] [1999] Buy used from: £9.30 Nearly on a par with season 3, Farscape's 4th year snowballed from this point onwards. In the absence of a complete season box set this is essential.
	Farscape: Complete Season 2 (Box Set) [DVD] [1999] Maybe not as consistent as the following season, but the big episodes are absolutely epic.
	Star Trek: The Original Series - Season 1 [DVD] [1966] Buy used from: £61.11 The original, and still the best.
	Farscape: Complete Season 1 (Box Set) [DVD] [1999] Buy used from: £39.99 A largely experimental first season takes a while to find its feet, but the latter stages of the season are outstanding.
	Babylon 5: Season 3 [DVD] Buy new: £9.98 / Used from: £7.95 Often overrated but never less than fascinating. If you can get past the poor acting and often appalling dialogue this is some of the best sf around.
	Stargate SG-1: Season 4 [DVD] Buy new: £17.99 / Used from: £12.50 Fluff, but very entertaining fluff. Does exactly what it says on the tin.
	Star Trek: The Next Generation - Season 3 [DVD] [1990] Buy used from: £11.80 The first great season of this much-loved series. With episodes like Yesterday's Enterprise and The Best of Both Worlds you can't go wrong.
	The X Files: Season 1 [DVD] [1994] Buy new: £9.98 / Used from: £6.98 The first season of this cult treasure is still my favourite.
