A Broadway adaptation full of campy sass that positively brims with powerful vocal performances, especially courtesy of Eddie Murphy and a phenomenal Jennifer Hudson.

Though the film responsible for this compilation's existence leaves a lot to be desired, this CD proves that there's no denying director Cameron Crowe's premier taste in alternative music.

As grittily textured as the film it accompanies with John Murphy's score punctuated by shafts of light courtesy of Brian Eno and Grandaddy (be warned: God Speed You Black Emperor cannot be found here)

If film scores were rated by their emotional complicity to their subjects, then this schizophrenic, seductive, hilarious and ultimately sinister CD from the Dust Brothers is up there with the greats.

The sonic accompaniment to the sweetest film ever made to feature hardcore sex fits the film's adoringly elegaic mood with dashes of spicy wit and disco amidst the acoustic gorgeousness.
