Review
Advanced Sheet Metal Fabrication is a bit more advanced (as the title suggests) and is in full colour. The first part deals with making the rear end of a Half-Midget Indy roadster. This is quite a complex shape and manufacture is covered in detail. The second part deals with the construction of a complete new skin for a 1955 Lotus Racing Car. the finished body (photographed unpainted) looks really good. It must have taken a lot of time and paitence. The third part deals with the fabrication of a motorbike Gas (petrol) tank from templates throguh to a completely finished tank. I am sure this bit of the book would be of interest to the classic bike restorers amongst us. Next is the section about making replacment panels for vintage tin. A fender for a 1922 Rolls Royce is taken as the example. Templates are taken from the old rusty tin and then photos and text follow the recreation form the old parts to a fully finished fender. The book concludes with a section on making a panle for a hand built Alfa Romeo. if you are into rebuilding old cars or motorbies there is sure to be something of interest in this book. --Model Engineer's workshop
