Product Description

If you ve never gardened, or known how to or you just need a touch of inspiration to get back out there, or plant a bulb in your kitchen, The Broons Gairdenin Wisdoms is the perfect guide. It s true most of Granpaw s advice is given when he s leaning on a spade, or relaxing in his armchair in his shed, but this book shows: the gardening year; how and what to grow on allotments/dark tenement stairs and flats, and gives advice on flowers, vegetables, compost, medicinal plants. Decorated with the wit and wisdom of granpaw s column from The Auchentogle Bugle , and regular news from the local Allotment Association. When Granpaw Broon is not sure what to do next in his garden, he 'asks Thomson' - his favourite gardening bible. In this book, Granpaw and Paw give their thoughts on how to grow in: allotments, window boxes, hanging baskets, container gardens, and how to grow garden plants as well as find that plant for a dark stair, with lots of reference and reproduction from "Thomson's Gardening Assistant".

Hilarious nonsense from Grandpaw with sound advice on gardening5
I particularly liked Grandpaw's introductions - they are nothing to do with gardening and more like the kind of chat you used to have over the garden fence - rambling and funny, complete tangents.
The gardening sections are solid advice on how to do things, and the book is beautiful. Wonderful design and I loved the little pics of Grandpaw peeping around the shed. This is a gem of a book and the love that the team and writer behind it have for gardens, and the Broons, shines out of it.

fun but clever5
a great book of old scotish wisdom with a few laughs what more do you want.
