The Perfect Guide
Buy this guide if you're going to walk the way!
It is the latest version - 3rd edition - of the trailblazer guide (Amazon still sells the 2cnd edition and of the 4 people who have reviewed it, all have given it 5 stars.)West Highland Way: Glasgow to Fort William (British Walking Guide)
The book is packed full of info; from important stuff to help plan the trip like what facilities each place has along the route and details including phone numbers of all the places mentioned (even the distilleries etc!) to random little snippets of info from some of the places along the walk. It even has a pictorial guide to the most common species of flower you may see!
It's an A5 book with 194 pages and fits into a coat pocket easily. Even after being drenched several times and battered for over 100 miles it is still in very good nick.
The maps are on a scale of 1:20,000 and so are incredibly easily to follow (the path is frequently signposted anyway). There are also maps and extra information about Glasgow, Ben Lomond, Glencoe and Ben Nevis in case you want to detour from the route.
However, the maps are not in the same league as ordnance survey maps and so lack information such as contour lines. We managed perfectly well without an additional map but quite a few people we met had the Harvey map as well as this guide book. West Highland Way XT40 (Route Map)

Love this book.
All you really need for the WHW.
Will have it in my rucksack, handy within reach, for quick reference.
