Synopsis
This is an account of the uniforms, insignia, weaponry, campaigns and military practices of the border reivers, the guerrilla soldiers who ran wild in the Marches of England and Scotland between the 13th and 17th centuries, and who for a while produced the best cavalry of their time, playing a decisive role in such battles as Flodden and Solway Moss.

Great colour plates & solid history
Although not as complete a history as George MacDonald Fraser's Steel Bonnets, this book is an affordable and well written look at the Border Reivers of Tudor and Elizabethan times. Written mostly with modellers and wargamers in mind - the colour plates in the centre of the book go into the smallest details of Reiver costume, this book looks at the main events, battles and characters of the era. The Reivers were perhaps the most violent of British outlaws ever, and their history makes fascinating reading.
