Having sold over 1.4 million copies in hardback, Delia's Summer Collection is available for the first time in paperback. It is a celebration of summer and all its glorious ingredients. Delia has distilled the essence of summer into a book that brings the sun into the kitchen whatever the weather. From early May to September a dazzling progression of summer produce brings with it a freshness, a sense of excitement and anticipation of what is new. Summer Collection takes that as its inspiration and introduces us to the more unusual ingredients that are growing in popularity; rocket and lemon grass, and herbs such as fresh coriander and sorrel. More familiar ingredients are transformed by the subtle influence of Californian, Italian, Greek and Oriental flavours and ideas. Here new techniques for grilling and roasting vegetables are explained, here are stunning home-made ice creams, barbecues for meat-eaters and vegetarians alike, a feast of fresh fruits, as well as a section on preserves to recapture some of the flavours of summer in the dark days of winter. All Delias recipes are tested again and again to make them totally accessible to everyone who enjoys cooking and eating. The Summer Collection also includes information on new equipment, ingredients and menus for entertaining.

About the Author
Delia Smith is Britain's bestselling cookery writer, whose books have sold over 21 million copies worldwide. Delia's first job as a cookery writer was for the Daily Mirror in 1969 - numerous phenomenal best sellers and television series followed including Delia Smith's Complete Cookery Course in 1978 and Delia's Christmas, Summer & Winter Collections in the 1990s. Towards the end of the decade Delia commenced work on a new major project - Delia's How to Cook, publishing three separate volumes and the accompanying tv series. The Vegetarian Collection and The Delia Collection followed. After a five year break concentrating on Norwich City Football Club (where she is a director) and Canary Catering, Delia returned triumphant in 2008 with a new BBC TV series and the fastest selling cookery book of all time 'Delia's How to Cheat at Cooking' - which has sold over 800,000 copies to date. Delia is married to the writer and editor, Michael Wynn Jones. They live in Suffolk.

Summer cooking
I've just gone back through this cookbook as what put me off to start with is the lack of pictures for every dish, however in recent weeks I've made several of the recipes - the roasted goats cheese vegetable couscous is a real hit and the leg of lamb wih rosemary is a stunning summer dish. This is a great cookbook for summer - and fairly health conscious too - I hadn't realised Delia is a weight watcher!
Still the best
I have several Delia books including this one. I find all her recipes to be extremely well described and they always come out right, unlike numerous celebrity chefs I could mention. I accept that she comes over a bit schoolmarmish but this lends gravitas to her writing. I don't think Delia can be beaten. This book in particular has lovely summery recipes, using easily obtainable, british ingredients and each recipe is a pleasure to recreate.
how to brighten up your summer even if the sun doesn't shine
This is a fun cook book with lots of unusual and delicious ideas. Coconut and lime cake for example. Beautifully illustrated, Delia has done it again: created a temptation for every cook to get into that kitchen.
