About the Author
David Seidman, an editor at Boating magazine, is the author of The Essential Wilderness Navigator and The Complete Sailor. His own experience as an entry-level sea kayaker began in the late 1980s, and his memories of early challenges and misadventures are still fresh.

Everything you need to know
Reed this book, and you'll be an experienced sea kayaker before ever getting into the kayak. Everything you need to know is thoroughly described, allowing you to follow all lessons necessary to start kayaking. In addition to that, the book covers navigation, currents and weather conditions in brief details, but enough to let you understand the basics.

I hope the next edition is water proof, so I can take it with me kayaking:)

Very good in an idiots guide type of way
Have you ever seen that advert for Ronson's Wood Seal, where the guy says "it does exactly what it says on the tin." This book is the Ronson Wood Seal of kayaking. it is the perfect beginners guide, taking youm through every basic manouvre. It's packed with illustrations, cheesy picces (great eighties haircut there!) and it really stresses the point that kayakking is fun. A great beginners guide.
