Product Description

Combining his trademark humour with his eye for the ridiculous, Radio 1's Mark Radcliffe recalls his less-than-glittering rock career in a succession of bands. Interwoven with the musical disasters is the rites-of-passage story of a middle-class grammar school boy.

Customer Reviews

Who'd have thought a DJ could be a comic genius?5
I am cock and quite literally ahoop that I bought this book. Radcliffe's writing follows a similar pattern to his radio shows; it is consistently and painfully hilarious. He packs the humour into a self-deprecating and admirably honest book of his many musical failures, from the mispronounced disaster that was the Berlin 'Chairlift' through to the supergroup that we all know and love as the Shirehorses. If you like the current show, or loved the Graveyard Shift, or simply laughed along with Match of the 90's, buy this - you'll have no reason to grumble at all.

You've been a great audience .... Goodnight!4
A witty and entertaining look at the less successful side of showbiz life. The style is very similar to Radcliffe's radio show. As such though towards the end I started to feel that it's a little bit like a listening to a DJ doing all the talking without the occasional sanctuary of a record or two. Still the book is short enough that Radcliffe just about gets away with it. Well worth a read.

Funny man Radcliffe brings his wit to the written world.5
The man behind the popular "Mark & Lard show" on Radio 1... brings his wit and humour to paper. This book is a must read for any fan of Mark Radcliffe's work.
